Age 18-20 1997 Honda civic lx
Age 20 trade on Craigslist with money on top of that for a N/A red 300zx 93
Age 20 still...had 300zx for 4 month then trade it in for 08 honda civic Mugen si
Age 21 now didn't like the 4dr Mugen si so trade that in for 2005 350z lmao!
now kids..what do we learn from all that? stop TRADING in your car!!

I got all the "speeding" out of my system in the civic...2 speeding tickets in a week...left me with 12pts...I was 17-18....I haven't received a moving violation since....I'm 23 now with my Z...if I had more power at my age I would've killed myself...

In order of purchase after workin my *** off in highschool to get my first car:

I respect any kid who can save up 10k making minimum wage. Yes, you're correct in saying that their other needs are being covered, but it's not like at the age of 18 you're working a career and making 10k is easy.
Realistically, for a kid who drives to work and pays for his own gas, food expenses, clothes, school books, cell phone bills, car insurance and other expenses that go with having a life, it will probably take around a year to save up 10k. Not to mention they get stuck working crappy jobs such as fast food (No offense to any fast food employees out there).
Don't get me wrong, having to pay for rent, and tons of bills makes a huge difference but let's not downplay the fact that this 18 year old kids are making like $7/hour. I respect any kid who works for their own car instead of getting mommy or daddy to buy it, whether it be a civic or a 370z.

Nice little rant there. The main point I was making is that it is pointless to even bring up how you got it and while there are kids out there that do pay the bills that you mentioned, if you read this thread more thoroughly you will also see that there are many that are car poor and spend every dime they make on a car while their parents pay for EVERYTHING else. It's all cool, but why not just say you have a Z and move on. So many times in this thread have kids said that they did it on their own only for their lies to be exposed.

All I'm getting at is that I have respect for kids that have to work for minimum wage and have the dedication to save up for their own car also while handling their own necessities, rather than depending on mommy and daddy to buy them one.

Yeah I see where you're coming from, basically what you're getting at is why mention that you paid for it yourself because in the real world, everyone is paying for their own cars so why make a big deal about it. It's just at that age everyone assumes you were given the car, which isn't always the case.

after working my *** off here and there, saving every single penny i could get my hands on. going to coinstar every month to cash in my coins. collect recycles, selling most of my belongings. I always wanted a Z but knew i couldnt afford so i settled for buying an RSX-s to meet my budget. then after so many failed deals, found a very nice 350z and jumped on it. had a little support from family, not a lot tho. and bought it. feel so accomplished. paying my own insurance as a 17 year old at the moment too, so im not spoiled as you may believe..

Besides borrowing mom and dads rides here and there (van & camry) when I got my license, I have earned every penny for every car I have ever owned.
No one should care how old anyone is driving whatever car they do.
People used to tell me I didnt deserve the viper so young. say the same about my $80K truck. ***** em. I see 50 year old men rolling in corollas.
Choices are every persons to make. Me. I love cars. no GF, no kids & no mortgage & work too much = nice cars and toys.
as well, the more super young peeps to get fast cars, the less there will be of these cars on the road once they are totaled and the value for ours will go up up up.
Still, when I was looking for a Z, you can find em for 10-15K. That is cheaper than a honda civic.
Care less about what others have and worry about yourself.
