Default Wrecked my Z, now what?

Two days ago while cruising with my buddies, my left rear camber arm snapped(stock) causing me to loose control and hit the mountain side and rolled upside down. This was a low speed accident, I was going about 20 mph and my friends managed to stop before hitting me. my passenger( best friend) and myself are 100% uninjured, not even a scratch. Since chp's towing service got there before mine, they did it their way. They thought it would be easier to drag my car upside down for 30 minutes until they finally got it on the bed instead of flipping it on sight and rolling it. The car is fulling insured -$1000. I am 19 and only had the car for 6 months. My parents loaned me the money for the car, $9000. The car is currently in my garage waiting for insurance to see it. At this point I don't know what to do. I love cars and this one was my baby. I just wanted to share this story and ask for any advice. I want another Z but there is no way I can get it unless I pay in full without any help. My plan was to get a cheap motorcycle to get me around town until I can afford another car. What are your thoughts? Also The engine, tranny, and other parts of the car are still good. Should I try and buy it back from insurance or just let it go? I was very attached to this car and want to keep a part of it. Thank you for reading my story, owning a 350z is like being part of a brotherhood.

Buy something you won't flip.

Can you get the headlights off the car? I'll give you $50 for them as long as the projector/reflectors are still intact.

Damn, sorry to hear OP. We really can't asses what advice to give you till we know what the insurance says anyway. I would attempt to get the towing company to fork over money.. 30 min dragging is not only unprofessional, but could have also added unnecessary damage to the car.

if it happened to you with 20 mph, please stop driving
no offense, you must be a really bad driver

forget for a while the cars, earn some money and then write a racing school driving before you buy a decent car

That's pretty scary...Although I doubt the 20 MPH thing too. I won't be an jerk like some people. For the most part...Be glad you're okay.

Maybe look into buying a non turbo 300zx or 240z if you still want to stick with Nissan.

Guess you've already seen some tough love on this board. While I'm sorry to hear about your shunt, it's really doubtful that your left camber arm just "snapped". That won't happen unless that part was previously damaged, and more likely was damaged in the accident itself. Low speed accidents can occur and they are usually the result of driver error. Accept your responsibility on this and get ready to move on.

As for what to do on your Z, there's little doubt the insurance company will inspect and then total it. After you pay your $1K deductible, the first thing to do is pay back your parents on the loan. Realize that you're not going to be able to part or rebuild the car by yourself. You don't have the skills or an enclosed workshop/garage to do it it. Beyond that, how are you going to be able to insure it? The accident is going to raise your premium beyond belief for a car like the Z.

Remember the good times in your Z (and learn from the bad times), but get ready to move on. Use what money you have to buy another good Nissan, but recognize that a Z is out of reach for now. Vow to get another someday, but recognize that trying to hold onto a bunch of used, crashed parts isn't going to help you much.

Stick to a hatchback civic and enjoy less HP and FWD.

Bull crap. You were trying to be cool by drifting or something and you failed miserably.

That's a nice chunk of steel to just "Snap" I mean glad your ok. Maybe your insurance will buy that. But my belief is you lost control of the car while attempted to drive and the wheel hit the mountain side causing the Arm to snap. I just cant possibly see a scenario where the camber arm just snaps. Have you seen the girth of this thing?

That absolutely blows and it is a very unfortunate play of events even if you were driving like a hormonal teenager. I would personally buy a cheap 2000+ celica gts with trd kit and save the big hp monster for when you are older.

Be happy you're ok dood.

But seriously, you were doing something iffy to cause this. Pretty sure 20mph doesn't cause you to lose control and flip.

You were doing something else...

1. Let insurance total the car

2. Pay back your parents

3. buy something that you can control, and something that won't give you the urge to speed ( Flipping a car at 20mph is pretty hard to believe, even on a mountain road).

4. Take some driving classes HPDE/defensive driving
