Default What have I got?

A few years ago I bought a beautiful 2006 350Z which I thought was the Track version. But not only does it have the Brembo brakes, but it has a Nismo air intake and muffler. It also had (so low it got torn off) a front spoiler, rear spoiler, and side aero parts. It all looks factory from the matching color and cleanliness of it all. It also has Nismo badges but the car does not have the Nismo long nose. The VIN # does not seem to help. I am wondering if the additional parts were factory options or if all 2006 Tracks came this way. Also, I am finding conflicting accounts concerning whether the track suspension is the same as a standard 350 or is stiffer. Some say different and some say the same. Thanks, Chuck

Welcome Chuck. The track models all had the same suspension as the other models. From your description, it sounds like the previous owner(s) installed an aftermarket body kit and other parts. Production of the factory NISMO 350Z did not begin until the 2007-08 model years. Those are the facts. Period.

On point. ^^^

VIN check on this site works and should clear up your trim level bewilderment.

Actually, that's not *entirely* true - the 2005 Track model (I assume 2006 as well) came with a 34mm front anti-roll bar instead of the "standard" 32mm front anti-roll bar. Not much else was different, though.

Thanks for the helpful replies. But I suppose everyone can understand my confusion as to the exact differences between the models, especially since one of the replies said the front anti-roll bar was a greater diameter than on the other models and it came as a surprise to someone who probably knows a great deal about 350's. Doesn't it seem that there should be an official Nissan website that would answer all of these questions?

Nissan does issue press releases for automotive journalists on its media website. Here's an example of how much must be written to show the changes to such an extensive lineup:

In a perfect world, yes. But the realities of companies having to make profits (at the expense of "older model support") doesn't allow (financially) many companies to provide such detailed legacy data; especially with web resources (right or wrong). The factory service manuals DO contain a lot of the minutiae type data, you should download a copy for your year/model.

Tangentially related: If you use google to search out info on your car, suggest using the "site" operand in the query, e.g., "what size are the stock sway bars on 350Z site:my350z.com" which limits googo to this site. Now, granted, it delivers its results based on your keywords and syntax so the narrower you can make your query, the more precise it will be. Nice thing about using Goog instead of the site search tool (which isn't horrible) is that instead of just pointing to a thread, it points to the page where the specific answer to your query is. Not 100% that you'll find the right answer but it narrows it down a lot and common (automotive) sense helps to sort the wheat from the chaff. You can combine any of the google operators to get down to the exact answer if its available (again, no guarantee that the answer given is correct. Hahaha.) Example: intitle:synchros AND cd009 site:my350z.com

OK, Google hat off...

So did you put your VIN into the VIN Decoder here? Works surprisingly well at identifying the specific trim level/model you have, and not just for Nissans, it's generic to the industry but surprisingly comprehensive. Here: https://my350z.com/forum/vindecoder.php

Yeah, I expected a 32mm FSB, but measured what came off my 2005 Track Model - and it was 34mm.

Honestly - Don't get used to it.There's a few folks on here who absolutely embrace the hazing ritual.
