Historically ugly interior
I really enjoy my '05, except the scratched/ cold/ ugly plastic interior.
So- why should i repaint/ improve the plastic. It's still ugly
What were they thinking . Had a well designed product & sh-- the bed on an important aspect.
I'm not sure if it could be worse.

I beg to differ. My '03 pre-order track model has almost the same interior. Nissan designed the Z33 interior to be spartan and functional and I've come to appreciate those qualities. Perhaps it's the years of being exposed to racecars that are even more stripped down, I'm glad Nissan put most of their budget into the performance aspects of the Z! Over the years I've found certain interior parts, like the DS and PS window switch panels, are easily upgraded with carbon fiber covers. Touch points like that are deserving of customization that prevents further scratching. But some scratches (and the ensuing touchups) are inevitable, but it's part of the package.

Agreed, there are some inherent issues regarding the interior durability/cosmetics. The beauty is pound for pound, dollar for dollar the Z33 is one of the best sport car platforms ever mass produced.
I hear your frustration, you may find some super easy budget friendly solutions in the Interior sub forum. Gl!

I have not had mine long but I don't find the interior ugly. Purposeful perhaps without a lot of distractions. Mine is pretty low mileage so I guess maybe it just has not got a lot of scratches yet. The seats have some wear which is disappointing.
