Nav. Compartment
I dont have my Z yet but I am trying to get stuff for it. Can anyone give me the dimensions of the nav compartment. I want to see what size screen will fit in there.
Please, please use the search function. This has been covered thoroughly before.
In case you can't search for some reason, the screen most often chosen is a Farenheit T-5801 (5.8" x 3.5").

The reason I asked was because I could not find that monitor anywhere and when I finally did, it said it was 3.5x5.8. So I just wanted the measurements so that I could find a different one. Anybody who has gotten this one, where did you order from? Sorry if this has been discussed.
No worries. We've just had a rash of lousy posts, and some members that have been around a long time have developed somewhat short fuses.
Hopefully, you'll find what you're looking for. Try a Google search for Farenheit monitors.

You can get the Farenheit T-5801 here... http://www.discounts-n-deals.com/pro...51&1=253&3=772 . The price seems to be very agreeable. Now all I need is my car.

Does anyone know if there is an inexpensive TV tuner that could be used with this monitor? OR, is there another screen that will fit the Nav space that HAS a TV tuner? Thanks.
Dr Bonz...good question...that is what I am considering as well. If I'm going to add the screen I want several capabilities. I'm looking at the PowerAcoustik PADVD-60T In-Car DVD/CD Player w/Built-in TV Tuner ($200)

This will allow me to play DVD, MP3, TV from this...it also has front RCA plugs, so you could connect digital camera, PS2 etc...temporarily. And with using the Farenheit T-5801 (dual inputs) that would still leave one input available for a rear camera if you want to go that route.

Thanks Aggie. It didn't say if it had an antenna jack but I assume it would. I wonder what type of antenna would be best and if it would work if you buried the antenna somewhere in the back where it wasn't in view.
Also, I assume you would hook it up to use the car's existing speakers would you not?

Yes, I would tie into the factory deck for right now - FM modulator(waiting for digital radio before I buy a new deck). But I no longer have factory speakers (see sig below). Either way it would still work.
Another cool option - build a hard drive-based MP3 player (http://www.carplayer.com/ssi/plans/plans.shtml) using inexpensive PC components and run Winamp as the interface on the farenheit TFT screen.
Mark, I have been considering the Neo Car Jukebox, especially since the new model is much improved (also has a din chassis for remote install). That will be part of Phase II, probably when I buy a new deck....unless I am content with using burned cd's with MP3 using the DVD deck.
Aggie, the Neo sounds like a great option, especially with the docking station to transfer files from your PC (not sure if that's the one you were referring to, though). Have you seen this site? http://www.mp3car.com/hardwarecats.asp?Type=C
That car PC would do just about everything you'd ever need. But too many distractions on the road could prove fatal!
