Default Real or speculated pricing from the LA TIMES??

Is this a random guess or is it based on anything substantial?

"The base price holds steady at about $30,000 while the full glam of the leather-lined, alloy-wheeled, Bluetoothed Touring package with Sport options comes in around $36,500."

The $30k Base is from nissan so thats real until they raise MSRP like they did with the GTR - make your mark on the industry with performance at a bargain and after the media hype settles dows, swoop in and hike the price while no one's looking.

I think the price for the fully loaded version is grossly speculated. A fully-loaded GT from 07 or 08 was almost $42k. No way that's getting cheaper.

Nissan has released base model pricing starting at $29,910. That has been known for weeks now. The addition of the different packages will of course drive that up.

The only Z's that cost that much are fully loaded roadsters.... A loaded coupe was about 38-39k...

<~~~~~~ That's a lie. I bought my 07' GT right off the showroom floor and everything came out to around 43-44 and it had every option in it that the dealer could think of.

Maybe you should've negotiated harder?

I added everything they listed for the 2008 350Z GT and it came to under $42,000, did the dealer added special NISMO stickers for $1k-$2k extra? Boy, aren't they nice....

Given the fact that we are in a deflationary period with little money to be had anywhere, keeping the price the same as the 350z will hinder the 370z sales let alone increasing the price. The demand elasticity of a Z is inelastic.

Essentially raising prices on a Z during a world recession isn't too bright. Especially when the beloved Z niche already own a Z for the most part. I imagine 370 will be successful, but not until year 2 or 3. First year sales will be abysmal.

Get real folks! Middle class people are in line for food at the Salvation Army. . . .they're not going to trade their paid off 350z for a 370z payment.

It would be unwise for Nissan to raise the price. The 370z will be encroaching upon the selling price of brand new C6 Coupes.

.
I think you mean the demand elasticity of sports car is elastic, meaning a 1% increase in price causes a more than 1% drop in demand.

Inelastic goods = water, food, utilities, etc.

wanna increase the price?

fine.. put twin turbos on it as an option, sell it four 40, 41k.

how will it sell in todays economy? dunno..

i will say this. before the 370z advent i had decided to buy a vette, base with z51 options, probalby around 42 to 43k. with the worsening economy and the problems at gm, i switched my attention to the 370z. if the 370z had the same hp and the vette basically and the price was the same, i would buy the 370z in a heartbeat.. while i would hesitate to buy the vette at the same price..

If you look at what the base is and what the base is + sport package it's pretty easy to assume (and probably accurate) to say that a fully loaded Z will run 38k+. I mean Touring will probably start at 33k. We already know that the sport pk is about a 3k option. So a Touring with sport pk will be about 36k. The Nav pk will probably be 1-2k (judging by what other car companies charge for similar packages). Once you add on destination charges and other BS dealers do it's easy to guess that it will run 38k or more.

As for above comment of the Vette, if you were really looking at the Vette get one. GM isn't going anywhere and due to the economic crisis we are in you could get a base line Vette with Z51 for under 40k. People talk a lot of crap but the fact is that if GM (and the other domestic companies) go under it's going to hurt the US in a devistating way. I doubt our Gov will let that happen. Whether it's right or wrong in how they are saved GM won't be allowed to go under. Get your Vette and enjoy it. The 370z is a nice car but it still can't compete. It's too bad Nissan and every other company out of Japan is playing it safe in the sports car segment.

Whoops! Yeah, you're right. Brain fart. The point still stands though.

I see some brand new '08 Zs on the lot with a sale tag under $25k, so that'll be a great deal with the 370Z if I wait long enough hahha.

After seeing the 370Z and sitting in the base and loaded model (not sure what the trim is called now), the loaded one will probably go up a bit. The interior is way nicer with leather and suede and the car's features will take it up some, I'm sure. I'm just hoping I can find a 370 at a junk yard someday to get the brakes off!!! I'd say the base price at 30k is close to being right.

Man a wait that long would be too hard to even contemplate.. Especially with the impending release of the 370's replacement.

Some dealer here in the Bay Area is selling a brand new base 2008 350Z for around $23,000, although it has 100 miles on it and has not been sold for about 5-6 months now so maybe it was a heavily abused demo? Either way, that price is about $3k under invoice and it's a superb deal for anybody who prefers the 350Z over the 370Z as well as the savings.

Haha I may plan on getting the 370Z next year, but there's not much of a rush at the moment. Hopefully the trade in isn't too bad.

the vette.. dunno sat in one, drove it. something about it just didnt flip a switch.. when i sat in the 370 at in GA i liked it a bunch. sure you can get a vette for cheap now. but i suspect i can get a stripped z for around 29 to 30k and it will be good enough performance wise and the interior is much nicer in my opinion, even on the base model..
