HR Owners..Regret?
i would trade 04 for a 09 in a heartbeat if my 04 wasnt modded. 09 is sex. its a bit faster, handles a bit better, the interior is lighter and i think it sexier. what's not to like about the 09? is it leaps and bounds better? not really but its amazing the amount of hate it gets, especially from HR owners, its comical.
im sure the same crap happened with vette owners when the c6 came out with c5 owners hating on it before the release, especially the c5 Z06 owners.

For anyone who is new this is what is (still!!
) happening;
*DE owners are getting their revenge on HR guys, stirring them up telling them that their car is dated, slow and that they should never have bought it. Though virtually each and every one of them was aware of the 370z comming
*Proud HR owners think their car is faster than the 370z. It is not.
*Reasonable HR owners are stating that the 09 370z isn't worth an upgrade over the HR 350z due to first year bugs, performance increase being minor, styling being questionable and the amount of money lost isn't worth the nicer interior.
*DE owners can't possibly believe that, so they keeps stirring, accusing HR owners of not accepting change and being jealous and envious.
*DE owners justify their 'jealousy' position by saying that most of the hate of the 370z comes from HR guys so they must be jealous.
* HR owners realise that the biggest part of the 350z community that will upgrade is most likely to be the 03-05s, so maybe it's the DE owners who are trying to justify their upgrade?
This is what happens in every 370 vs 350 thread, can't we be friends? Hugs and kisses anyone?

Anyway after all that time we have a 350Z and are still together.
Still have freaking horses too.
Back then I married a woman with a new 72 240Z. That car was a marvel back then. After the wedding, she traded it in for a pickup to haul horses. I've always thought it was a bait and switch.

no way, they didnt, i actually know a couple, c6>and much better looking then the c5. the 370z doesnt look near as nice and is only half a second faster in the quarter mile if that, its not worth it to trade in your beautiful z for a design that doesn't flow. the c6 has a much better body and has non-pop up lights which make it substantially better than the c5
Also the 370Z looks nicer than the 350z and the lines flow better. (see, I too can state opinion as fact).
Mines are not HR but I have an 06 and I was going to trade in for an 08 Nismo(Brand New $35,000) 3 weeks ago before the 370z came out because my local dealership offered me on Nismo but the 370z was on my list too so I decided to wait till 370z to come out and it came out few days ago. I thought I was going to fall in love with 370Z but it didnt happen. I know the 370z have nice interior and cool looking and stuff but I like my Z the most.
FWIW the 370Z is not yet faster than the HR in the 1/4 mile at all. Until 370Zs hit the track and prove it then the HR is still faster (with proven result by members of this very site). I am confident that Veetec will get his hands on one and put the subject to bed but until that happens the HR is king.
Yes, so would someone please loan me theirs?!
I still think I can run a 12.9 in mine, given the right conditions. If I am not still sick on Saturday, I may give it a shot at Steele. I have been surprised at the low dyno runs, with the 3.7, but dynos can be off quite a bit, from one to the next.
I think the 370Z is potentially about 2/10ths + quicker, based off the mag time difference, gearing and claimed hp. There are a few people here who can drive them well enough to prove my theory. I really should withhold judgment though, until I drive one. They definitely out handle and out brake the 07-08, and that is no small feat!
As far as looks go, I like them both. I think my SMB 07 has cleaner lines, but the 370 has an aggressive stance by comparison. In a perfect world, I would own both, but in my financially tight world, I will be perfectly happy with my 07, even though the 370 has more potential, imo. One thing I didn't like about the 370 Z, was the fender well overhang. The headlights are growing on me, but the taillights, still not a positive point.
One more thing, my 07 has gotten noticably stronger with miles, as I am at 52K now. The 370's will also get stronger over time, and as good drivers start taking them to the track, I am sure we will see times that are consistently quicker than the HR times, by about a 2/10ths margin.
We shall see.

I think what makes the 370z have such an aggressive stance are the huge flared fenders coupled with the high belt line with small windows/greenhouse (one of the reasons why the 300C looked aggressive with its high belt line and gun slit windows). Not to mention it went back to some of the classic Z look with the rear 1/4 windows and the long hood/short deck (it seemed the 350z had it's passenger canopy more in the middle of the car).

i own a carbon '07 stock base z and i LOVE my baby. plan on keeping it rest of my life. wrt the 370...3 things that would prevent me from even considering replacing my 07 with the 370:
1) exhaust note in the 370 is nowhere close to as intoxicating as my '07's
2) i am in love with the hood bulge in my '07...370's looks fugly/bugly in comparison
3) agreed the interior quality of products in the 370 is better...but the '07's is wayy more functional. there is a ton of storage space (for a sports coupe) in the '07.
i got my '07 second hand (only had 4k miles though) and my only gripe is that it's not solar orange :P

If someone with a 370Z will meet me at the Alabama International Dragway in Steele, on Saturday, we can put this to rest, well, if I can drive you car too.
I just hope my clutch holds. Time to bleed it again, and add fluid. I am at 52K miles now, so the clutch has outlasted my 04.5's by about 20K.
