Interesting. Hmm, if this is "ugly as hell", what does that make the 350Z??? Compared to the 370Z, the 350Z looks "sleepy". Just my opinion, but just don't take it from me.

"Overall, the 2009 Nissan 370Z offers up a more compact and muscular, yet organic and sophisticated look than its predecessor. Where the 350Z appeared to be a long-legged GT cruiser, the 2009 Nissan 370Z returns to its 240Z roots but adds just enough muscle and aggression to give the look of a proper race track brawler." -- Motor Trend

"For those who don't climb underhood or stomp on the throttle, the most visible change will likely be the Z's new curves. Sure, it still carries the 350Z's general shape, but the car's form is considerably different. From what we can tell, the 370Z's proportions and taut body lines make the car look lighter and more akin to the original 240Z." -- Automobile Magazine

"Conclusion

The 2009 Nissan 370Z arrives with the long hood, short rear deck proportion of the original 240Z and does so in a fresh and handsome new way. Although we'll have to see it in person to know for sure, so far this appears much less an evolution of the 350Z and more a homage to the original Z car design philosophies, something we wholeheartedly welcome."

Just random comments off of a Yahoo survey. To be fair I didn't just put the comments from people who liked one car or the other more. As you can tell many like the looks of the 370Z. I do think it is natural to be partial to your own make of car. It seems you even notice your "own make" when driving more than others would.

"370z its better looking, lighter and a much easier car to drive with"

"370 z more improvements baby"

"I have driven the 350z in manual and automatic.
I have also driven the Nismo 350z, which is similar in performance to the 370z, but I have not driven the 370z.

I like the new 370z better because it is faster and handles better according to tests done by magazines and car tv shows.

The new Z also has better quality from what I can tell with the interior pictures.

It also looks better in some ways. The only thing I hate is the placement of the Nissan Emblem in the back of the car."

"despite the price difference, I like the 370Z. More refined and is everything the 350Z isn't. Handles better, faster, lighter, better interior"

"i would say the 350z. the 350z is cheaper right now and the 370z has a bit more power than the 350z but it's not really worth it."

"Judging on looks you cant beat the 350Z Nismo edition, but judging on performance the 370 wins. I also dont like the way the 370Z lights are i guess ill have to grow on them"

"omg the 370z by a long shot.............good job to nissan on this car."

Shortly after delivery, adding the splashguards! My friend Art in the background. He did the deal.

Well, I think I will have to test drive the new Z this weekend, if I get well, and can get out of this house.

I really like both, each for different reasons, and each for the same reason, performance value for the money.

Yep, I think Nissan has done very well with both Z's.

I prefer the "clean" look like your car. Never liked it when people add too much aftermarket stuff on the car.

The bold was exactly what I was talking about not to mention how they said the 370z has a much more agressive stance than the 350z. Pretty much 3 pictures all but confirm what was being said.

Now some of you might try to say it's the lighting that makes the 370z look better but really it's the huge fenders, small windows and classic Z proportions. Again, the 350z doesn't really portray the long hood-short deck theme that the 370z and old Zs do. With the 350, the canopy seems to sit in the middle of the car.

Yeah, and what does it matter if a car looks like its predecessor? The 350z is still a beautiful car with a distinguishable design.

Who said anything about the 350z not looking beautiful? All that's being said is that the 370 calls back to the design method of all previous Zs, something that the 350z went away from and that many like the return of to "Z tradition" and the aggressiveness that it portrays. You might not think the design philosophy of all other Zs matter but there are plenty who do. Nissan found a way to go back to that philosophy without doing the complete copy/retro that some other car companies are doing.

wow, you need to sell your 350z if you dont like the way it looks...

I envy the 370z's rev matching feature the most. I frequently downshift and rev match manually to make it smoother, and now to have the car do it for me would be Friggin awesome!!!

Every review that I have read so far has been raving about it. Who in their right mind wouldn't?

I own both a 350Z and a 370Z.
I have also driven multiple HR 350s.
The 370Z is a faster/better car all the way around.
End of conversation.

Go to the track and prove it by running a faster time.

More random comments. From Youtube this time. Many people think this car brings back the 240Z style, which is a very good thing.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzFjXiTqjF4

"it's the same look of the beautiful 240z "

"Touche, no need to change perfection. The 240z got it right over 30 years ago. The new 370z looks like the same recipe back then, although not sure if price is right."

"i like this one alot more than the 350 from what i can see... nissan is really going back to its roots on this one... i really like how the hatch swoops back further cause it looks like the old 240Z-280Z styling xD"

"Nice! Looks like they went back to their Datsun roots for inspiration. Old school style. Daddy likes!! XD"

"all i would ask is that it have a shiney L series shaped valve cover... except make it a little wider so it can say dohc "

"i drive a 2007 350z. i love it. i cant afford another one the 370z looks great. "

"Nissan is repeating Chevy's and Dodge's trick - going back to retro styles. Me likes !"

"its got some of the old school looks from the original datsuns. cant wait to see what it can do! "

I keep looking at photos of the 350Z and 370Z. It is obvious the 370Z goes back to the "Z" roots for its styling. But it made me wonder why Nissan deviated from it? I am guessing using the exact same platform for the G (a 4 seater) and the Z is some of the reason. When Nissan cut the chassis down and make a more specialize platform for the 370Z it freed up the form a little to be able to give it the original "Z" like proportions, shortening the back, placing the canopy further back and making the hood seem longer. Just my guess.

Going back isn't always great.

Just look at the original Corvette. A beautiful car, but definitely not a design for 2009.

Thankfully the Z34 still looks current, even with the old styling cues.
