HR Owners..Regret?
Although the 370z should be faster than a stock NISMO 350Z because of our weight and aero kit.

And according to Nissan's website, the 370z weighs less than an 08 350z (do a car to car comparison on the site).
yea he is, the fastest 1/4 mile time with a good driver not from a magazine with a stock HR z was a 13.1, once a good driver actually gets behind the wheel of the 370z it should get atleast 13.00 if not high 12's(i'm not holding my breath, but you never know)
Agreed the 370 is only marginally faster than the HRs. Just like DE and HR. Even mod for mod it will pull slightly better numbers unless the VQ has maxed out. Either way the 370 will have a power advantage as was always the case with the 350 through the years.
It's unbelievable how many people go further than talk about cosmetics, which is subjective, to jab at the new car.

Search button at top. Search 370z weighs more.
The car was weighed by C&D magazine to see the actual weight of the car and it weighed 3350 which weighs more than my NISMO 3325 and much more than a base 350z.
The car barely dynos any more than a HR 350z and weighs more. You really think it's going to be faster? NO.

The HR actually makes more TQ than the 370z.
Reviews show the car braking and handling better on average. Most Z owners didn't buy the car for it's acceleration. Much better options out there for a similar price.
Wait till they test a Nismo 370.

If I can do it all again... I wouldn't change anything. Yes, there are some things I like about the 370Z (smart parts of the interior); but the headlights, bodykit, jumbo slurpee sized cupholder drive me insane.
Didn't read the whole post, so I'm not sure if any ZR owners have posted yet.
However, from my perspective: a) '09 roadster is to be the same as '08 from what I hear - Z34 roadster won't hit till later b) I'm really, REALLY happy with San Marino Blue (not on '09's). c) as far as performance - from what I hear the '09 handles really well (better than stock Z33), power- not that much different from the '07-'08 HR d) not loving or hatin' the exterior styling (saw it at the LA Autoshow). But, I hated the '07 hood hump at first (even had bought an '06 because of it). Now I love the hump (the hood ya know) and will probably get to love the Z34 as it comes out. e) Z34 Interior is better than Z33 w/exception - weird left gauge (something to get use to). BOTTOMLINE: I'm super happy with my '08 Z33 and would not get a Z34 Roadster or coupe. It would have to be a HUGE change in the future for me to budge (TT, etc, etc).

leg killa it's clear by your responses that you want HR owners to say "oh we regret our choice we want the new 370 blah blah" and that you can't believe that people would take an older car. Still, I would take an old body style Sti over the new silly wagon any day. I gladly concede that the extra cargo space and improved handling dynamics might make the 370 a worthy purchase, but as you are seeing, it has less torque, has, well, controversial styling (I didn't say ugly
) and overall is not drawing the responses you desired. Lets face it: the 370 is a great car, but compared with an HR, it is just not a huge change, and in my opinion is a step back. Many of us probably are in a position where we could trade in and make the jump. But as so many others have said,
I would take the HR, or a tuned DE, any day.
If it is still styling you want to discuss, try a little test. Find a good picture of each vehicle, and show them to somebody who knows relatively little about cars. Or pull up one of the eighty comparison threads that have popped up around here. I think you might be surprised.

i would keep my 08 HR. i <3 my whale hump on the hood. I also feel a bit cooler knowing i have the last of its "kind" as far as HR's go. I mean think about it, it was only made for 2 years. Talk about exclusiveness. Think about the people who bought the 300zx TT right before it was discontinued. Or the 240 owners who bought the last year before the 300's came out. I feel awesome knowing i have a part of history that is still FAST AS HELL. I love the way my HR looks because IT'S MINE and what 21 yr old wouldn't love it. IMO, the 370z is fail looks why. I really just don't like the way it looks, not because im prejudice. But i wouldn't mind a power-transplant into my Z from a 370
I bought an 06 Sunset ZR. I jnew the HR was coming and decided on the 06 because of the color (glad as hell it does not burn oil mor at least no through the first 15k). I've made up the difference with some mods, so awful close. Added some handling mods so the car is a dream to drive. Can the HR do many of the same mods and be faster yet yes, but like some have already said their will always be a faster car. The 370Z is the latest in faster car. I did not regret my RevUp when the HRs came out, much like I bet the HR do not regret the their purchase of their HR. I feel at home in my z and love everything about my car (cloud of one day being an oil burner withstanding, but will get a new engine at that time). The cars become a part of you and why so many love what they own. i have 2 Zs a ZR toy already mentioned and an 03 as a daily driver. I plan to keep the ZR a mighty long time. On that same note I can eventually see trading in the coupe in year 2 or so on a Z34 especially if it is a hard top roadster. Right now IMO the 370 is an ok looking car but would buy G37 coupe or 335i if moneys were right because I like show and go and at present think Infinit and BMW have the better looking car. That by the way is a reversal to when I bought my previous Zs. Ejoy what you brung or trade it in. It's only money
Nothing to regret here, i knew 370 was coming out and i seen spyshots of the headlights, shape and the dashboard. I knew right there that its going to be a fail for me. I have made the prediction couple months before that the inteior is going to be the same as g37 and all other infinities/new nissans. That thought kind of killed it for me, as well as the fact that the new z will have boomerangs for the headlights.
Like the guy above said, and i think its a good point, owning HR Z is kinda special the last of its kind, given that extra little kick under the hood. Id love to own a 300 tt, it is actually faster then then 350z which is even more impressive (or at least on the top gear test they did)
Im sure down the line when 370z will get a new face lift i might like it, but untill then, its still not my cup of tea, i kinda wish it was but just cant get over the fact of the looks.

I don't like the look of the 370 and I think the performance numbers and weight are dissapointing just like the next guy.
But, to think that a HR Z is faster than the VHR Z is just plain dumb... Nissan rarely release a car that is slower than the outgoing gen, esp not if it's a sports car and esp. not if it's straight off the back of the final year previous gen (unlike the gap between the Z32 and Z33).
Don't be a HR lover and defend your car to the end of the world, and don't be a 370 lover and think it's all that... be rational!

just a quick reference, nissan does release slower cars...
Im sure HR will be pretty close to the 300 but will it beat it?

Then tries to quote the Car and Driver weight as if that alone is the end-all-fact on the 370z weight, yet Nissan's own website (do a competitive comparison with the 08 350Z) has the 370z weighing less than its predecessor.
Nothing more than certain 350z owners trying to make them and their car feel better because the new model is out that clearly outperforms theirs. But again, there's been other BS spouted in this thread already so I'm not surprised at all.

From: They rapin everybody out here!
I purchased my 08 and couldn't be happier. Personal opinion, I think the lines and styling of the 350z are great and the 370z's hatch looks horrible. Last year of this style, had to have it. Definately not knocking the 370, it's just not for me
Dropping my car off at Nissan today, hopefully they have one there I can play around with.
