350zhr vs 370z acceleration
Heres a stock stock HR running 13.1s.

I was being a little tongue-in-cheek about trying times with 2nd gear starts. I do use it a lot for around town when I do rolling stops (guilty as hell) or start on a downslope.
Alrighty so all the "on paper" whining will stop, here you are! These are the actual splits from my best run thus far in my little over 2 weeks of owning my 370Z! Keep in mind I am still breaking her in and everything in the car is bone stock. I haven't removed anything to change the weight or anything else. Im running a straight base model, no sport, no touring, 7 AT.
Best 1/4 mile run:
2.0897 - 60 FT
5.7219 - 330 FT
8.6927 - 1/8 ET
83.18 - 1/8 MPH
13.437 - 1/4 ET
103.85 - 1/4 MPH
There you have it ladies and gentleman! That is the fastest time I have seen anywhere with actual splits from an actual track! I know a few mag's have claimed 13.3 and a few have 13.5 or even 13.7 but I have not seen any actual splits from them so it don't mean jack.
HOWEVER, please do keep in mind I am by no means a proffesional driver in any sense of the word! This is my first auto and Im still getting use to the paddle shifting. Also I was not launching my car at all during these runs, it was just a straight "floor it" at the light start. I did this run on this past Sunday. On that day I ran 7 runs 6 of which were in 13.4's and I had one 13.5 flat, so if anything it is consistant as hell!
Anyways hopefully some people will be happy to see this kind of numbers from an Amatuer driver. I would still like to see an actual link to the splits and exact car information of the HR that ran a 13.1 tho! It should be confirmed if it was 100% straight from the factory stock. Not just a "engine is stock" claim. It could easily have better tires for better traction, weight reduction or even some suspension adjustments to provide a better take off.
Fact is I would like to see numbers from another strictly Amatuer driver in a straight from the factory HR that is putting up better times than this. Not saying it is or isn't possible, but I would like to see it!
I still really think the 370Z has the potential for me to continue to improve on my numbers and get down the the low 13.3's maybe even high 13.2's while stock but unfortunately I will not be able to find out since my Stillen intakes will be here tomorrow.
Anyways enjoy the numbers guys!

I owned a 2007HR prior to my 09 370z, and the 370z is faster. It launches better, and the wider powerband is noticeable just from driving both cars back to back.
I believe that many people overlook the fact that the 370z is geared better than the 350. This is the main reason for the 370z's edge over the 350. The gears are close, and grow closer as you go up in the shifts for better acceleration..40,70,88,120, versus 40,70,100,130.

I agree 100%
I had an 07 HR and the 370 is a bit quicker,
Having a G with the 3.7's powerband in it is why I got the 370.
It is just a smoother onset of power and it feels a bit nicer of a car (my opinion)
Can't belive this debate is still on...
I will get mine soon with a 6spd and will track it as soon as I can.

We have been simply WAITING for it to happen...
Personally I'm still waiting patiently for that first 12 second slip to roll in.
Well I'm glad to see that someone beat me to linking the car and driver results. That was with the 7AT base model, non sport, non touring! Same model I have. So it didnt even have limited slip or the better tires, the downforce of the rear wing, all those fun lil things...etc.
Ok so no 370Z owner is going to denounce the evidence that a stock HR ran a 13.1 TWICE! But go ask those two guys that ran them how their clutches were after they made that 13.1 run. Both will tell you they were jacked up! I saw some people claim 13.1 from the 370Z was just a "factory freak". How do we know it wasn't the same with the two HRs?
Everyone wants to make claims against the 370 but the numbers don't lie! Yes an HR has ran a 13.1, but now so has a 370. But what no one wants to think about is how the HR runs around 13.5-13.7 on average with a solid driver behind the wheel. While on the other hand as more and more 370s become broken in and start going to the track your seeing more and more times being posted in the 13.3-13.4 ranges consistantly! I myself have a best time now of a 13.25 on a track that is infamous for having terrible traction and I haven't ran slower than a 13.4 in almost 3 weeks now!
So I challenge on you HR owners, stop the trash talk please. Instead get your "stock" HR to the track and back up your claims and post some numbers. Honestly if your not posting numbers of your own in this thread you have no room to say anything whatsoever. Stop biting off the results of some other guys car and post your own!

I agree completely, which isn't to say anything bad about the HR (it's what I have). I just can't understand why there even exists an argument over the two, they're both great cars and I don't feel slighted in the least knowing the 370z is a faster car, if anything it makes me happy to know it will directly competing with some of the faster V8 muscle coming out (Camaro, Mustang, Challengers, etc) and holding it's own. We all know the HR is a capable car, but I think we'd be kidding ourselves to think it's better than the 370z- either way I wouldn't care anyhow.
Both cars are great. The 370z is really showing it's performance now. Just like with any car, there are best times of the 350z, and now a few so far of the 370z. Until the 370z beats the best times, it isn't faster per that yet. But so far, it is looking good and with a good driver behind the wheel it will do so.
The HR had clutch issues but they were resolved later by a recall. The 13.1s can easily be done again by those drivers.
The performance difference between the cars is so little that this shouldn't even be a discussion.

Just like how S8ER95Z mentioned.
Just like how S8ER95Z mentioned.
any future track days with the club? i've been wanting to head out there but with more Z's esp. HR ones.
Not many go to the 1/4 just the road courses. The next road course is planned for 6/6/09 at H2R. If you do go to the 1/4, set a date, Friday of some weekend and let us know in advance and I can ask others. I will try to go as I been wanting to go again myself.

alright guys i own a 6-mt 07 350z, was on the highway and spotted a 370z, so i pull up next to him and tell him to race... we eventually slow down to abt 40mph since its a highway and was our only chance to be that slow... agreed on 3 horns then fly but the idiot flew on the first horn.. anyway since he pulled up on the first horn he surprized me so i was like 3 seconds behind but i was so close to him just couldnt pass him as he was already in a higher speed than me we slowed down as soon as we hit 130mph... results might have changed if he had pulled up on 3rd horn..
tried to race him again but that guy wouldnt race again for some reason.. so ya i wud admit its a bit more powerful but not so much that i wud trade my 07 for... i'll take a video the next time i race another 370z.. everybody give it up for all us Z owners and stop hating on each other be a f***kin Z family!!!!

I don't even think which is faster is even a legitimate question anymore, C&D has already matched the best stock 350z time. For all we know it could have been a 13.1 flat(faster). Its only a matter of time until someone runs faster. In the short time that this car has been out, it has already trapped 107-108mph. I wonder what this car can do at a track like MIR where its often -DA with a good driver.

I give it to those two HR's and there 13.1's but Z has put up the same number now as well so your arguement holds no validity! As for me my numbers are up, I back my claim....wheres yours? Other than those two times that every HR owner clings to and reference in every single arguement, HR owners are continueing to talk and not backing any of it up with their own numbers!
Now I completely agree that we are all Z fanatics here and I personally love the 350Z just as much as my 370, but to all the 370 haters and trash talkers.
I say to you, put up or shut up! If your coming to talk numbers and don't bring your own, then just keep on and don't bother posting, because your still all talk!
Oh and the few people mentioning street races.... your stupid, and they don't count! Sorry but street races are immature and meaningless. How about not risking innocent lives and your insurance rate and just take your car to the track instead! I tell anyone who rolls up and revs at me they can meet me at the track every sunday if they want to run, I'll even pay their fee, but I refuse to ever street race. It proves nothing!
dude dont be so full of sh*t as much as i love my 350z hr i still love the 370z and no hate at all they are both great cars and street racing is not stupid well maybe a great risk but im not here dying to whip other cars just enjoying the ride so dnt be hating, its definately not a legit race but the only reason i raced him coz i wanted to see the difference between the two so nobody is claiming its legit... we all know ur so excited abt your car and think its the **** and i dont blame u it is really an awesome car just enjoy it no body is hating on u well at least im not i totally love it...
Fact is your still biting on some other persons times. Until you post faster times than a 370Z with your stock HR, your arguements hold no ground! I will say those TWO HRs are as fast as a 370Z and most HRs are very close, but when you look at averages, the 370Z is still gonna win 9/10 of the time!
I give it to those two HR's and there 13.1's but Z has put up the same number now as well so your arguement holds no validity! As for me my numbers are up, I back my claim....wheres yours? You are correct and I personally haven't been in disagreement over the 370Zs potential... simply posting facts

And also judging by your logic, a Fiesta that posts a 16 second quarter-mile time is faster than the latest version of a Bugatti Veyron that hasn't been ran at a quarter-mile yet. Makes perfect sense. Have fun in bizarro world.
