350zhr vs 370z acceleration
ah i in no way hate on the HR, i realize it makes more peak horsepower, and thats great and is a more stout motor to take boost so has been tested..i am totally happy with my DE compared to a HR and have yet to see a HR out perform my DE is all im saying, basically like the HR guys are saying about the VHR which has begun to be modded and proven to be a mod friendly and very good motor and platform

Alrighty so all the "on paper" whining will stop, here you are! These are the actual splits from my best run thus far in my little over 2 weeks of owning my 370Z! Keep in mind I am still breaking her in and everything in the car is bone stock. I haven't removed anything to change the weight or anything else. Im running a straight base model, no sport, no touring, 7 AT.
Best 1/4 mile run:
2.0897 - 60 FT
5.7219 - 330 FT
8.6927 - 1/8 ET
83.18 - 1/8 MPH
13.437 - 1/4 ET
103.85 - 1/4 MPH
There you have it ladies and gentleman! That is the fastest time I have seen anywhere with actual splits from an actual track! I know a few mag's have claimed 13.3 and a few have 13.5 or even 13.7 but I have not seen any actual splits from them so it don't mean jack.
HOWEVER, please do keep in mind I am by no means a proffesional driver in any sense of the word! This is my first auto and Im still getting use to the paddle shifting. Also I was not launching my car at all during these runs, it was just a straight "floor it" at the light start. I did this run on this past Sunday. On that day I ran 7 runs 6 of which were in 13.4's and I had one 13.5 flat, so if anything it is consistant as hell!
Anyways hopefully some people will be happy to see this kind of numbers from an Amatuer driver. I would still like to see an actual link to the splits and exact car information of the HR that ran a 13.1 tho! It should be confirmed if it was 100% straight from the factory stock. Not just a "engine is stock" claim. It could easily have better tires for better traction, weight reduction or even some suspension adjustments to provide a better take off.
Fact is I would like to see numbers from another strictly Amatuer driver in a straight from the factory HR that is putting up better times than this. Not saying it is or isn't possible, but I would like to see it!
I still really think the 370Z has the potential for me to continue to improve on my numbers and get down the the low 13.3's maybe even high 13.2's while stock but unfortunately I will not be able to find out since my Stillen intakes will be here tomorrow.
Anyways enjoy the numbers guys!

Dark, let me know next time you plan to go, maybe we can make a Z meet out of it.
Anyways, those are nice times for a auto no doubt! How was SAR track prep that day? They usually are not that great.

But I would definatley like to start getting connections with other Z owners in the area since I won't know anyone really when I move and it'd be good to start off with finding people that share common interests. Not to mention to be able to get shown all the good spots, shops and tracks in teh area as well!
But yea as soon as I do move out there tho, if there are some good tracks near by I plan to go out often. I prefer to track my car as opposed to the street racing gig! My car is sexy and anyone who knows anything knows it's fast. I'll prove it at the track, not the street. I enjoy my $75 insurance for my age!...lol
Eh this may be true, but everything I've see has said as far as straight 1/4's go the MT and AT times should be vertually even! If anything I would put my money on the AT for consistancy any day! I found a dealership that let me test drive both and ended up going AT just out of preference! I didnt like the feel of the new clutch AT ALL! Way to soft for me. As far as power and shifting goes tho, they felt pretty even. The AT paddle shifts are very very solid and smooth and feel just like driving an MT just without the clutch, which was a nice change for me! (Never owned an AT vehicle before)

i hear ya, just seems like the mt would be able to lauch harder, but then again the at guys usually have decent 60ft. times and yes consistent times..
guess we shall see in time
I am actually still in Ft Bragg NC until June 1st! I put San Antonio as my location for my profile since I will be moving there and staying permanantly in 2 months. (Too lazy to change it later)

Many members track their cars at the road courses, and some take it to the 1/4 strip as well. We have 90 active members so we are a large club. You will be coming just in time for ZCON.

Keep in touch.

I owned a 2007HR prior to my 09 370z, and the 370z is faster. It launches better, and the wider powerband is noticeable just from driving both cars back to back.
I believe that many people overlook the fact that the 370z is geared better than the 350. This is the main reason for the 370z's edge over the 350. The gears are close, and grow closer as you go up in the shifts for better acceleration..40,70,88,120, versus 40,70,100,130.

I agree 100%
I had an 07 HR and the 370 is a bit quicker,
Having a G with the 3.7's powerband in it is why I got the 370.
It is just a smoother onset of power and it feels a bit nicer of a car (my opinion)
Can't belive this debate is still on...
I will get mine soon with a 6spd and will track it as soon as I can.

Here is a little fun clip of a 370z doing 0-60 in 4.7 seconds. I could never hit the 4 second range in my 07 z, but it's quite possible in the 370.
