I swear by mine. Nothing outside diplomatic immunity is going to protect you if you're way above traffic. Here that means 90-100 mph as traffic is running 75-80 mph in a 65 zone and a bit faster in the 70 mph zones.

Id recommend the V1-Ive had one for a little over 2 years now, no speeding tickets during this time, and Im no grandma behind the wheel....best thing to do for avoiding cops, is dont speed where you know they might be/are known to sit. That has helped me to only 1 speeding ticket in 6 years of driving "spirited". And I wouldnt have gotten caught but I got lazy one day and boom.

You can buy a whole lot of bricks for the price of a speeding ticket.
I have mine mounted in the "shadow" of the rearview mirror so most of the unit it's visible to me. There is an ordinance which prohibits items that obstruct the driver's view of the road (to include St. Andrews statues) here in California but I've only heard of a guy getting stopped for a warning.
The V1's directional arrows and unique tones are what sold me. Knowing where the threat is makes it a whole lot easier to judge your reactions.
If I have a strong signal from behind I know that the radar unit has crept up from behind me and it nailing me and I have to put the brakes to work but quickly. if it's a weak one growing stronger from behind I know the guy is weaving through traffic toward me.
If the signal is a weak one from the front growning stronger I know that I'm coming toward the guy and can just coast down to a reasonable speed.
Nobody uses K band here so where I hear the K sound I know that it's a false alarm - but up in Oregon they're still using these 20 year old units. The Ka and Laser have different tones to them and after so many years of hearing them it's almost automatic.
Nothing is going to prevent an officer's judgement call on too fast for conditions or some other lame judgement based ticket. I rarely exceed the limit by more than 20 mph on the highway and try to keep just a bit faster than traffic.
California highways are unique.
