Finally, I purchased a decent HU
I finally bit the bullet and after listening to the stereo on my new TL, I bought a new HU for the Z. I put a sub in it a while ago but splicing into the rear wires it sounds absolutely horrible so I leave it off. I went for the Kenwood KDC-X789. One of the coolest features I'm looking forward to playing with is a built in G-force sensor (small gyro probably) and tell me how close to the limits I am during my daily driving.

Anybody have experience with this particular HU (or similar)? I'm still need to pick up a dash install kit and a wiring harness as well as some RCA cables to run back to the sub but all of i should be done in a week or so.

My first upgrade was the HU that you got. It was piece of cake to install. I also installed the ipod adapter. I haven't been able to play with all of the features of this unit yet. I wanted SQ when I started shopping and the local shop specifically mentioned this HU when I went in. My next upgrade is speakers and an amp, and I am have a hard time deciding which ones. BTW, I too, am a Hokie.

Cool, thanks for the note. I won't be going the Ipod route but will be going the XM route. Where'd you get the installation kit (to mount the HU) and the wiring harness?

Miami ... should be an interesting year ... I suspect things will be much tougher with all of us in the ACC ... espcially with the two-division garbage.
Funny how there's no time for a playoff, but there's time for division/conference champs ... not to mention they wanted to add all those extra games to increase revenue. Neat how when it comes to dollars, all of a sudden the 'student need for study time' isn't such a priority.

You should see our stadium. They added a shitload of new luxury boxes as well as new general seating. I barely recognize it as the location of many a drunken football game and that was *only* 7 years ago.
