I used 2 peices of mdf particle board, cut them to fit, and stacked them up to get a 1.5" spacer. This had closed the gap and allowed me to use the stock mounting bracket. Actully extending the power wire was harder.

Thank you! It was suggested that I not use wood as it could absorb water and create a rust-prone environment? How about cutting those rubber mats that they use for flooring in children's play areas? Would that work? Is that all we need? 1.5"?

You make a VERY good point about the wood. Damn i better go and look into more carefully. Actully, you don't need so big of a spacer being that the mounting threads on the brackets aren't that far off. What ever you can get that wont cause a rust problem i guess will work. To be honest though, water damage never crossed my mind because its such a tightly closed up area. Go figure?

Oh ... heh ... Ooops ... sorry ...

Maybe a bunch of washers will do it ... ?

1" worth of washers isn't enough ... Are you using the Stinger Power2 SP1000 ?

I emailed Optima and Erica at 1.800.292.4359 stated the Red 35 is recommended for the 350Z, and the Yellow D35 if you have aftermarket accessories exceeding 400 watts. Hope this helps.
