First Look: KPtechnologies Push Button Start
Stage 2 (still requires key) will be $169.99 plus shipping when it is released in a few weeks.
Stage 3 isn't even designed yet and there is no guarentee that it will ever exist. If we do make it, I would expect a price around $350 - $400 for a complete unit and two "keys". This is a rough estimate based on the prices of some of the stuff we are researching. There, unfortunately, doesn't seem to be a cheap and secure identification system that offers a workable range.

You guys are funny.
I guess, looking back, I never should have mentioned the stage 3 idea - especially because I don't even have a prototype idea laid out. I got caught up in concepts and wasn't focused on reality.
The reality of it is:
1. A secure stage 3 module is going to be expensive
2. A stage 3 module will definately require professional installation - it will NOT be a DIY type module
3. A stage 3 module will require mechanical modfications to the steering column to defeat the mechanical wheel lock
4. Depending on how it is installed if a stage 3 module fails your car may not be drivable.
There are some pretty major "cons" to such a system, and those are the things we have to consider BEFORE we spend thousands of dollars designing and developing a system. If we only have a market for 5-10 units then obviously we won't waste the time.
At the present time, I think the only way we could really develop a module like this and make it practical is if we had a commitment from install shops to carry and install our products. I don't really see this being a "sell to consumer" product, because most people will return them when they can't find anyplace that can install them.

lol buzzardmountain, my post was a joke, kevin is a friend of mine. If you look back at the thread history it's pretty humorous as kevin has mention time and again that stage 3 will not available for a long time if at all but yet people just keep questioning him about it from everything to can I buy it now, will it fit my maxima, how much.
Frankly I dont care about the Stage3, at least not yet!
I cant wait until this product comes out so I can slap into every S2k owner face for it!!!
JK, JK
But come on with the masss production already!

It looks like the release of this module is going to be delayed a bit so I can add some more features.
I'm looking now to integrate the brake signal with the module. When you push and hold the brake pedal down and then press and release the start/stop button the car will automatically start by itself. It won't require you to actually hold the button down to crank. I think this will move the project one step closer to "OEM" operation.

Hey k pierson, you know what else would be cool...if you could come up with a kit that would allow drivers of the 03-04 g35's to put in the 05-06 instrument cluster. If you were able to make an adapter or some sort to go inbetween the two...do you think that would be feasable?
I've got all the software done and it is waiting to be debugged. I haven't had much time to work on it lately, but hopefully that will change after this week is over. Hopefully by the end of next week I'll have some in car testing done.
This new feature is going to be well worth the wait.
