The first test unit will hopefully ship today to SFLG35. Hopefully he will install it in a very timely manner and then, based on his feedback, we'll send out the next batch of test units. SFLG35 has a history of finding bugs in our products that we miss. It is very beneficial to have a fresh set of eyes review what we're doing.

I recently read where a guy who put a push button start in his car was able to go keyless by using his aftermarket alarm. He is using the S2000 start button, mind you, but he does have an interesting idea that I thought you might be able to use. Below is a quote from his website.

"Not long ago I installed central locking and wired it to my alarm unit to lock/unlock the car automatically and I knew the alarm had a few spare 'functions' for random duty. So, after some careful planning I decided to wire the ignition directly to the alarm. This means I switch the ignition on and off with a button on my alarm key fob. Since the 'accessory' circuit only powers minor circuits I wired this to a basic illuminated rocker switch which you can see in the image above.

To prevent accidental ignition switching and keep vehicle security at its peak, the remote ignition is configured (via the alarm) to only switch on when the alarm/immobiliser is disarmed. If the circuit becomes powered while the alarm unit is armed the siren will sound and the CRX remains immobilised.

Basically, I now have myself a totally keyless CRX. Walk up to the car, press a button on my key fob and the car beeps. The alarm and immobilisers disable and the doors unlock. Press another key on the fob as I get into the car and the ignition switches on ready for a gentle press of the big red 'ENGINE START' button to fire it up. As I get out of the car, with the engine still purring I close the door behind me and take a few steps before killing the engine via the fob then locking, arming and immobilising the car all in one simple motion."

A CRX is a completely different animal then a 350Z/G35.

While I'm sure it will work, it would:

A. Be very easy to steal the car
B. Not account for the mechanical wheel lock our cars have
C. Not provide a bypass for the Nissan transponder based anti theft system

On his CRX, I could pop the hood, disable the siren, hot wire his car and drive off with it in under 30 seconds.

SFLG35 should have his test unit installed by the end of this weekend. I am finalizing the install instructions right now. Everything else I believe is ready to go. I have a hand full of push buttons, but I'm still waiting to here back from Nissan on availibility.

Once SFLG35 has his installed we'll line up the next series of testers. I'm also currently scheduling time to install one on an Acura TSX. We want to make sure there are no surprises.

I talked to Dan yesterday and he got it installed, I'm not sure why he hasn't posted here yet - he may be working on some pics or something.

He had no issues at all installing it, and it took him about 1.5 hours to do it.
