Default 06 to 03 cubby

I did a search and couldnt find the exact answer to my question. Will the 03 cubby swap into a 06 without any probs?

the cubby setup (entire thing) should. assuming its roughly the same dimensions..dont quote me on that though... the door might be a little different.

Yeah ive seen post where people took the 03 and put it in a 05 no prob but for some reason i thought 06 might be slightly different and cant rember if the cubby will fit.

pretty sure there will be gaps between the 03 cubby door and the 06 dash. Plus I think they are different shades of gray.

Someone really should do a full write up on this with pics. Get two people one with a stock 03,04,05, the other with an 06,07, and do an on the spot swap. This would be a major sticky thread!

I agree… great suggestion. This would be a useful sticky.

Searches here don’t provide the answer. It would be nice to bring this information together into a single thread. Paul350’s thread was enormously successful, but that was a while ago and discusses 2003-2004 models. I believe readers would appreciate an expansion that covers all years.

Thumbs up

Simply said,Yes you can..because anything is possible . I did mine last month. But there will be "problems" and to be able to successfully do this swap you will have to use your 2006+ lid face and use the bottom latch area from the 2003 cubby(mynismo.com). The metal bracket that holds the face on the 2003 Lid will have to be attached to top of the 2006 Lid Face. It is not a simple task. Requires a lot of dremeling and really good abs glue usage. The final result in the end will never be 100% like that of a 2005 to 2003 conversion. But the Color will match your 2006 dash. and there wont be gaps on the side, maybe on the top or bottom a bit but completely liveable. All in all im really happy with how my conversion went, it was a pain in the ***, but i didnt want to put the 2003 cubby's lid in my dash, it looked ridiculous because of the color difference and the size difference. 2003 lid is very small compared to the 2006+. It took work to even get the lid to open and close the way it was meant to but it works as designed to for the 2003 now. Good luck!

I originally started with the intention of doing a write up on this topic since everybody on 350 forums said it cant be done. However, as i started to look at the task ahead i had no idea if anything i was doing was actually going to work at all in the end. So unfortunately, i tossed the idea of step by step picture deal. My carpc project will be completed hopefully in the next week and a half to two weeks once my pc is shipped to me. Will take lots of pictures then. I will try to take some pics of the cubby itself if i get some free time so you 2006+ guys know what the inside of the cubby will be like in the end.

I'm not quite sure I understand, are you going back to an 03' center console to from a newer model, or going from a newer model to an 03' cause I have an03' and want a new console so bad, stupid bad location hazard button...sigh..

That would make another good write-up. To see if the new and old dash and consoles are completely swapable. If there is anyone in the Mid-A region near DC with an 03-05, I would be willing to find out. I have an 06.

Not sure I understand your message. We are talking about swapping the “dashboard center console”, and not the console over the transmission (where Nissan locates the hazard button).

Actually I did mean the part over the tranny.

The center section of the dash (radio, cubby, guages, heater controls, shifter) actually fade into the center console (cup holder, switches for the seat heaters, armrest cubby). So if the entire center dash section were swapped, the entire center console would have to be swapped as well. I would be willing to bet the mounts for both are identical, and just the facade used is different, and they could be swapped completely. It would, however have to be 2 cars with the same options (ie, seat heaters, and nav).

07 cubby is the same as the 06, you will have to do something similar to what i did on my 06.
