Wait, wait, wait. . . What are the fair logistics on renting a car that you used to own? I'll have to talk to team Pelle about this atrocity.

Hi Jay!
So you want to rent your "old car" hmm I don't know that car has been good to me and is running like a champ. For anyone looking for pics of the cars visit

http://www.facebook.com/teampelle

The red one is currently for rent unless Scott Talks his way into renting his old car.

I know! I spoke in jibberish. What I meant was that one of the 3 cars on Team Pelle I used to race last year before building my greenZ. I think when we spoke on the phone I was going for my first SpecZ race in the #12 car, which Pelle has now.

On a completely different topic, I saw you had posted a pic of how you connected your MSD GMR tach signal pickup to the black wire on coil 1 to feed your traqmate...

While I can't locate that picture at the moment I have tried connecting my MSD pickup to each of the 3 wires on the coil pack connector and still nothing on my traqmate.

Was there anything else you did? Do I need to change my traqmate setting from 6 cyl to something else since I am only picking up the pulse from 1 of 6 cylinders (I ran out of time to try this).

Thanks
I did the same wire placement on the traqmate however if you grab the yellow stripe wire on the #1 coil pack the you would have to set the traqmate to the ecu/1 cylinder setting. If you grab the black wire off the blue plug then set the traqmate to 2 cylinders.

Actually, using the black wire & setting to ECU/1 works well.

Turned out I had a floating ground and when I tied directly to the chassis the signal popped up - makes sense a GMR sensor would be sensitive to ground fluctuations. [Thanks LAZE1 !! ]

Tough weekend for spec z at Sebring. Had a Z go over a tire wall and thru the concrete barrier at Bishops Bend, a 100mph+ sweeping left. Driver is fine, car is not. He was on line when he felt the right front go down then then car pulled hard left into the barrier. Cars behind confirmed. Sticker tires on pf01's, first hot lap.(sebring is nearly 4 miles long so tires were up to temp by this time) Hard to say what gave way due to the amount of damage to the car. Fortunately he is mid build on his 2nd car.
My car started spewing diff fluid out the breather onto my subframe like crazy and was crunching 5th gear all day Sunday; gotta love the Florida heat in June.

We ended up with 6 cars on track for the Sprint Races. 2 canceled out just prior to the event due to various problems, and one crashed hard during the Friday enduro. The Team Pellegrini cars from NOLA had issues with brakes and WaveTrac diffs, and the Z1 car had multiple "new car issues" all weekend. Clark Crawford, David Levine, and I just drive around all weekend in our DE cars and checked the oil and cleaned the windshields... oh and checked tire pressure

I believe that I finished 3rd both days...MyLaps should confirm that...

Here is my video from Saturday at Road Atlanta. I started on the outside pole and then got the lead early in the race and held onto it until I went 4 wheeling off turn 5 and disturbed the ABS sensors which resulted in locking up the tires in turn 6 and 7. Flat spotted all the tires and had to retire from the race. Z1 Motorsports new Spec Z was a blast to run with along with all of the other guys from the NASA SE. Thanks for having us at the track.

By the way this was my first time at the track and set a personal best time of 140.932

I was able to replace the wheel speed sensors and rotor thanks to the help of Z1 Motorsports and all of the other fellow Spec Z racers. Unfortunately early on in the race I lost 4th gear completely and had to shift without using 4th gear. I was able to still hold onto to second place for the Sunday Race.

Thanks,

-Jay

Hey, thanks for coming over and putting on a great race! I love your teams scheme. I wanted to come over and take some pictures of your cars, but didn't know where you were in the pits. Sorry to hear about the car. If you ever need a volunteer at the track here in SE, I'll be glad to assist you in what way I can! Good luck this season.

Thanks! The car will be fine, I pulled the transmission today out of the #12 car and will decide on rebuilding it or purchasing a CD009. The one I pulled out was a CD001. It's been showing signs of weakness for a while now, I'm surprised it lasted this long.

I'm also pulling the wavetrac out of the #40 car because it blew up on Friday during practice. We were not able to put any power down to the ground.

Thanks,

Jay

No its a revup motor. I just have the Nismo body kit. The Z1 Motorsports Spec Z behind me was an HR which blew past me on the back straight 3 or four times.

The exhaust is a Tomei Titanium Cat back with ART Test pipes from Motordyne. I'm very pleased with the setup.

Car looks and sounds great. Bummed about the tranny and the ABS issue, you were really rocking out there.

It looks like the Z1 HR needs to get on the dyno, as he was really pulling on you and I know your car is/was at the HP maximum and near the weight minimum. They can exceed the HP maximum with even a simple exhaust upgrade, Jeremy Croiset had the same problem in his Nissan-sponsored HR car at Nats last year.

I agree. That guy flew past you way too fast for a car that should be the same power/weight and in a Spec class.

Where is everyone buying their spec tires these days? My set from last year has fallen off after many HCs.

What's the prognosis on a grinding gear? My 5th gear just started.

We put TraqMates in all the cars and weighed then (except mine ) and I will share that data with the race participants

But yah...that Z1 car was moving down the Back Stretch
