well car is back. but doesn't start so reliably with the new flywheel. The starter gears don't mesh perfectly with the flywheel gears and I get some grinding.

I'm gonna have to go like this for 2 weeks babying it and then go back to stock after.

1 peak hp over my old engine and lost 5 peak lb.ft.

So obviously my old engine was, before it totally died, a strong one. Nonetheless this engine feels so much better than my old one did. It's pretty obvious that the old engine was losing power steadily over the summer.

And at least it sounds more like a racecar inside. Has more of a wail to it.

Z1 motorsports flywheel.

So I called Z1. Same story, Z1 says APH didn't instal it right. APH says there is only one way to instal it or it won't even mate up. I kind of believe APH.

So. Long story short. That flywheel and clutch won't be on the car very long. I will throw out the flywheel (even though it feels awesome once the car is running) and sell the practically new clutch to someone at a discount.

Thats *********. With all the experience APH has I would be surprised if they messed up installing it. It appears there should be a marking on the flywheel so it lines up properly. I could be mistaken though. For Z1 to default the blame on the shop, I'm assuming they already know 110% the part is not faulty. I would like to know how? This seems irresponsible to me as a number of things could have been messed up during the manufacturing process. As we all know ALL parts are perfect from the factory EVERYTIME we receive them. New parts that are bogus are unheard of in the aftermarket word. Or even OEM world for that matter.

The reality is until its disassembled, and the alignment is verified, part inspected, nobody knows for sure if it was an install issue, or bummed part, and Z1 should be reserving judgement until this is verified.

Its ridiculous you have no other option but to throw the flywheel in the garbage after spending your hard earned cash on it.

I sincerely hope this is not the case and a better solution is found.

I'd have the shop document exactly how it was installed with pictures and written report. Then send that and the flywheel back to Z1 and ask for a refund or at least credit

Momentum performance.

the 1 hp gain isn't really indicative of their gains. It was a different engine.

Nice. I also installed them along with, 5/16 spacer + mrev.
Hard to say what I had gained.
I do have an issue with my headers, drivers side first primary touches the engine mount (engine side). Did you notice anything like that with yours?

waiting to see your car back on the track with some vids of the new engine screaming.

good luck with the flywheel though. if it were me, i'd ask for a refund from Z1 and get a different flywheel. the last thing id want is another stock flywheel, or remove and re-install the same flywheel in hopes it works this time around only to find out the problem still stands and you have to do or pay for the labor all over again.

I got them at OAKOS auto. It's pretty close to me. I'm going to need a set of wider ones.

What size are you running now? 18*9.5 square? Thinking of going to 10.5?
