If you look at the under side of the hood, towards the rear are three patterns...a triangle square triangle....I'm planning on cutting out half of the pattern seeing it's only one lay. It should help with cooling and with keeping flowing air out the engine bay.
Something like the TRD supra hood just the vents towards the rear...

Lots of people run plywood splitters on their race cars or weekend warrior cars. It would also be worth looking into sheets of a product called "Alumilite".
The biggest concern is oil from the oil pan/plug collecting on the board (regardless of material, although wood will absorb it more) mixed with heat to ignite.
Not having a turbo in there helps, and the headers don't come very close. I had a temp meter on mine for a bit but wasn't able to gather data this year on it. Based on the condition of the resin/fabric on my splitter it didn't seem like it saw that much heat, but there was some 'oil dirt' under the drain plug as expected.
Mike, I have a fire extinguisher mount for sale if you want

Well I originally planned on wood but I found some free aluminum sign material at work so I'm just using the wood as a template.
So in the end it will be alumalite/alumacor material. I will make a couple. It will be an undertray replacement. Then I'm going to cut some holes in the stock hood to force air up, not back down under the car. I will attach it with support bars at the side, some rods at the front, and it will be bolted directly to the frame at the back.
Not gonna lie it will be painted neon colours and probably say floss like a boss or something equally stupid.
and check this out. dead even. well close. I'm .15 faster

seems with this side by side...your Z seems to be fighting you on the turns or at least how smooth the ride is in the s2k shows some flaws with the Z...
great driving nonetheless

Yes I noticed he is more polished.
I don't know if I am fighting oversteer the whole time, or creating a twitchy rear end by cornering too abruptly.
One thing I do know is I'm 2x as fast when I'm mad or psyched up. I'm just concentrating on being smooth I'm fairly slow.
But something to work on in my second year of driving for sure.

I'm just trying to figure out if it's me who's the meat head or its the car.
Probably a little bit of both.
This is a stock C5Z06 on Hankook RS3's with brake pads fluid etc.
Power to weight owns me. Beats me by .85

The S2000 is lighter, more balanced and has a shorter wheel base. It also has less power, so it needs to be driven smoother to maintain momentum, like a miata.
Generally 'smooth is fast', however I personally never found the Z to be fast when I was smooth, it took a little over-driving and pushing it to get the most out of it. We can run huge tires (relative to our power/weight) and get all kinds of grip out of a corner to make up for a slower entry.

Great vid Mike! Congrats on a succesful year of racing.
I think you should quit your job as a dentist and become a boss racecar driver. If all else fails you can become a boss getaway driver.
