Question StopTech ST-40 Pad Replacement

I'm kinda tossed up between the Axxis ULT & the PFC1038. The Ult seem like a good pad for the price but seem to wear pretty quickly & are a bit noisey under light braking. However the PFC are more expensive but I won't have to worry of swapping pads when I see the track.

Do any other ST-40/45/60 owners have any other suggestion or opinions on these pads. I need something for mainly daily use with little/no dust and/or noise.

THANKS!

I'm running the Axxis pads now, I haven't tried anything else yet. Mine don't make any noise

Well your's might still have plenty of pad left. I think mine are getting pretty low.

Anyone else that has tried different pads?

i had axxis ULTs before on the ST-40s, they were great cold stop, but high dust... swapped to the ST-60s and went to hawk ceramics-- crappy cold stop, low dust. me no likes... i'd rather have the better stopping than the dusting... but if you're ok with the little dust, then try that-

for the track i'm using Hawk DTC-70.. great pad.

when you say "Crappy cold stop." Are you saying this cause they are noisey or cause you need to give extra braking distance?

ok. well maybe "Crappy Cold Stop" isnt the best descriptive verbage..

when compared to the Axxis pads, the Hawk Ceramics did not have the same 'cold stop' bite that i was used to, i.e. hit the brake pedal and immediately slow down (that grabby touchy feeling). for the Ceramics.. it was hit the brake pedal, and it slowed down eventually just not-as-fast. i made sure it was not air in the lines (used a power bleeder), and i properly bedded in the brake pads per stoptech instructions.

i have a set of Ferodo DS2500 that Howard@Stoptech recommended that im going to try next...

on another note, also i had great experience with the Pagid Oranges on the ST-40s, but those were at the track...

I run HPS for DD. Quick swap for StopTech BBK at track when changing tires.

I used HP+ on the track for the ST40's but they had plenty of dust and noise...Swapped in some axxis ult's for the winter and they have a little less dust and no noise at all...
