This isnt a trap speed contest, its a drag race, First to finish wins, you redlight, you lose. You run an 11.5 to his 11.3 but you have a .5 better R/T you win. Im not sure how exactly you are doing this, now would be the time to clarify. First to finish wins, or best times win? Of course red lights are an automatic loss. Mis-shifts of course count against you (what about car issues, breaking?) you wouldnt believe how many idiots back in the day would try to act like their non driving doesnt count and want another run. Id clear these things up now....

I would assume whoever has a lower et wins, without red lighting of course...

If you guys run faster than 11.50 and don't have a cage in your car, etown might kick you off. They've been cracking down on that lately...

Wrong

Just an example...

Philthy runs 11.80

Julian Runs 11.50

You cant assume they both leave at the same time-if they do J wins by .30 seconds. If he falls asleep at the light, and cuts a 1.00 R/T (.500 or 1/2 second to make it easy-above PERFECT) and Philthy cuts a .600 light, Philthy wins by .100 or 1/10 of a second.

what is this contest to prove? the driver or the car?

if it is for the car: do e.t.

if it is for the driver: do a head to head with R/T being used.

I personally like to see it as whoever crosses the line first, wins.

i think lower ET's is a better idea... because no matter what your reaction time is.. you will still run the same ET if you cutting the same 60 ft everytime.

i could have a 3.00 R/T and still run lower than Phil

If its lower ET's then its really them racing the clocks not each other. Would be fun, but not as fun as soemthing like this deserves IMO...

I guess running good times wont prove who is a better driver? Better R/T's and overall wins regardless of others ET will prove who is the better drag racer, not necessarily who has the fastest car. If you want to see who has the faster car, look at traps (although that can also be highly influenced by drivers!) or just weigh them, dyno them, pull over and compare sheets<---for those that remember 95snoozer-he once said something like that and it cracked me up

different tires and wheels are also going to affect trap speed...

too many variables here.. things need to be pinned down as to what we are looking for

After agreeing on tires, Id simply do first to cross the line without a redlight wins. That way driving, R/T and cars power (trap speed) all come into play evenly...

My vote is for an all out drag race, like Bert said.Who cares which car has a better trap speed. Its a grudge race. The cars don't hate each other, the drivers do. And I still think they should box with their helmets on..it would make for great video

Best of 5, heads up race, that's it. If you start getting into R/T, or best E/T, why don't we start estimating dial in and other crap. There's 100 reasons you can come up with on why Phil or Julian should or shouldn't be faster than the other. No bull****, no drama. Get parity in the tires, line 'em up and race.

Best time is what I had in mind - let's not make this so complicated, it always been about who has the faster car! We've already established that MRC has the upper hand in drag racing experience, the tires and setup - he should have no issue spanking me on paper - but we'll find out what he lays down at the track.

E-town will kick you out if you run faster than an 11.50 - but they give you a warning, so worst case scenario I get two runs in and then sit and watch and have a beer with my friends.

It'll only take two runs to tell the whole story - heck, best MRC could muster in the recently was a 12.1 I believe... those vids should be posted soon.

Thanks to Alberto and all the other drag race 'experts' - I'm having so much fun and can't wait to run my car.

^^^ best time does not always mean you have the fastest car. It means you got to the finish line first. I have run alot better ets than alot of guys but they have faster traps than I do.
