How do you guys haul your tires?
How do you guys haul your tires/wheels to drift events? I've fit like 2 tires but Im looking to get another 6 spare wheels so I dont have to worry about changing tires at the track.
you can fit four, fully deflated 245/17's in the car with the stuff NOT in the trunk. 2 in the trunk and 2 riding shotgun. but for several obvious reasons that got old VERY quickly.
The trailer I use is from TSC (Tractor Supply Company). It's a 4x6 and I want to say it cost around $400.
Harbor Freight has one that is smaller and cheaper but to me the quality just wasn't there. This one comes with the mesh floor and the lights. As you can see the wheels have been upgraded but that was only cosmetic. Fully loaded with 4 tires, chairs, jack, tool box, impact, spare parts, and fluids it still only weighs around 400 pounds. With the boat jack on the front I just roll it around anywhere in the garage that i need. Before the season fully starts I do want to add Bearing Buddy's but that is about it. A couple of metal angle iron pieces welded to the top of the side rails is what holds the tires. I drilled 4 holes in each for the strap. You can try to run one strap across or through the tires but they tend to sway and fall over. a small locking box from lowes ($50.00) that is bolted to the floor and you are good to go. I struggle mostly with where to put the tires, front of the trailer or back of the trailer. Glad it is arranged the way it is now, however. with the box in the back its much easier to get the tools out or whatever I am putting in there. I couldn't imagine having to step over the tongue of the trailer everytime I wanted to get in it. With the tires off the trailer, it does get very light in the front, but to me its no big deal.

Here's how I use to do it on my '03, I haven't convereted the hitch to my '07 yet. This setup was great when hauling tires to autoX / track days.

I've actually been able to get a set of four 275 width tires in the car + equipment. After doing it once, I swore I would never do it again. Above anything, it seemed very dangerous to have the wheel & tire sitting just behind your head w/o anything to prevent it from coming at you if you had to do a panic stop or a got involved in an accident.
It's a Harbor Freight trailer 40" x 48" (the one w/ 12" wheels) w/ a 3/4" plywood sheet cut to allow a little overhang on the sides to allow for wide tires. It was dirt cheap (~$160) and held up to 4 years of usage. When hooked up, you barely know that it's there except for the noise of the receiver occasionally moving around in teh receiver tube. The trailer wiring was the toughest thing to find. I finally got it the proper wiring from a friend, I thnk he got it from Napa.

: gas pedal WOT, wait 4.28s, brake pedal, wait 10.19s, etc..etc ....it's kinda annoying to do.*before having my trailer, I just wrapped all my wheels in big garbage bags, they all fit in there with room for jack, jack stands, tools,...
here's another way I did it...I wouldn't rec'd it b/c it didn't seem too safe in retrospect:

Hi,
I added two L-angles and drilled a 1 inch hole through it and ran a 84 inch 3/4 galvanized pipe through it.
I can now stand 8 wheels and tires in front of the Z when loaded on the trailer.
Ill try and add pic's later of the Z and tires all loaded up.
I also use two 1-1/4 inch floor flanges mounted on the trailer floor behind the Z and can take an extra 4 wheels and tires laying on top of each other with the 1-1/4 inch pipe sticking up through the center cap holes in the wheels. Look close behind the Z in the 3rd pic.
Since these pic's I have rust-treated and primed/painted the angles black.
I plan on drilling a hole through one end of the pipe and through the L-angle so i can lock the wheels using a trailer hitch lock for those out of town events.

I also have this trailer to pull with my Z...don't have any up to date pics but its set up like the diagram...
I have 1-1/4 inch floor flanges screwed down to it and also have cross pipes for mounting more tires.
I use this one mainly for local auto'X events and light hauling of materials when i need.
