Default on BOSE and grease streak ...

BLOSE amp:

I am getting my BOSE amp replaced on March 21st. When I first approached the dealer about the amp replacement, they said that there are NO TSBs on the 350Z. However, upon gentle insistance, and after offering them the replacement amp part number, they ordered the new amp for me. Moral of the story is: bug your dealers, they should fix it.

I will post my impressions of the replacement amp once I get a chance to really listen to it. For other's edification, please feel free to post your comments if you have had the amp replaced already.

Grease Streak on Windows:

My dealer insists that there are absolutely no TSBs on the grease streak from Nissan. Their suggested solution? "Keep cleaning it". Has anyone had their windows fixed to remove the grease?

I am afraid that if they have to remove the door panels to fix the problem, it'll rattle and would never be a tight fit as before.

My dealer also said no TSB on the AMP when I took it in for an oil change. I'll wait for your impressions on the new amp before insisting.
As for window streaks. I get them on both sides. I'll wait for an official TSB because I dont wan tthem to keep taking off the door panel to try different solutions. Remeber, this in Nissan and it will NOT be fixed on their first attempt.
Otherwise the car is great and the tranny has gotten better with age.

I was at the dealer (Scarborough Nissan) yesterday for oil/filter and to address the grease streaking problem. Armed with numerous copies of threads and postings from my350z.com including the part number, I tried unsuccessfully to get them to see/admit there was a problem. Their service technician said the streaks were from the rain! This was the same attitude they had when I complained about the inferior audio system and they do not know anything about the amp TSB. Noticing a new black Track model on the showroom floor, I checked both windows and guess what.... grease streaks! I marched the service rep and salesman to the car and upon seeing the streaks on their car, the rep promised to order the proper parts...but a 3 month wait. I do not understand why they keep insisting there are no problems when they are well documented...you would think they would want to be enlightened! They should know more about their product than the customer...or am I naive?

Also, I tried unsuccessfully to get the tire feathering addressed i.e. check alignment ..... they will not do it with the snow tires on the car....they want to see the wear on the stock tires first.

Subsequently, I left a written and voicemail messages to the manager to discuss my concerns......no response yet!

I still love my Z!

Z2thdr, I would tell them that "I will wait for the wear on the tires to show, at which point I will require an alignment and NEW TIRES at your cost, and I want this IN WRITING, or you can check the alignment now and make me happy."

Also, try to see your warranty manager. Many times the services manager doesn't want to do something until the warranty manager covers it.

Slaponte....thanks for the advice. The service rep has given it to me in writing that if there is any wear evident on the stock tires, they WILL do an alignment at no charge. If there is a lot of damage, I will ask for new ones. However, I am thinking of replacing the stocks with something better. At least, it is now on the record if there is a problem. They also confirmed that the parts for the grease streaks are on order.

Yah, the best thing to do if they dont want to fix something is at least make sure it is on the work order that you had a complaint. I have had the Z in twice and both times I complained that the tranny was notchy. Even though they could not find anything wrong, I am satisfied that it is on both work orders because now if the tranny does fail down the road, they can not say it was my fault, wear and tear etc... because I can show them documentation that I knew something was not right from the start. Anyway, the tranny has loosened up especially in the warmer weather. Keep your fingers crossed for no rain on Saturday.

BLOSE Amp

I had my amp replaced last Friday. It took them about 1.5 h to replace the amp. The technician had to remove some of the panels inside the trunk.

I have not had an opportunity to extensively listen to the sound system yet. However, it appears that the new amp obviates the pesky auto volume level adjustment problem. I CAN FINALLY LISTEN TO THE RADIO without having to constantly adjust the volume!!!

The CD sound quality is somewhat improved for lower frequencies, however, the base appears to have lost much of its gusto. This personally does not bother me much, but could be a concern for owners who want their Stevie B shaking the neighbourhood. Nonetheless, the base appears to be much crisper than before and no longer has that muddy/muffled sound.

I think the system is mediocre and the overall quality of sound is sub-par in comparison with other systems of same specification. However, the new amp seems to address the problems and there is definite improvement in the sound quality, especially in the lower frequency range. Also, I have not yet observed any erradic behaviour by the auto volume level adjustment.

Grease streak on window

The Service manager advised that there is no TSB on this topic. However, they offered to address this problem at 12,000 km regardless of a TSB or not from Nissan. He said they would rip apart the door panel and try to find out the source of the problem.

Now this scares me for three reasons. (1) they obviously don't know what is wrong and want to go on a fishing expedition to find the problem. (2) I voiced my concern that once they remove the door panel, it may never perfectly fit and may rattle. The Service manager was adamant that it'll be a perfect fit. (3) There is a chance for them to screw up and damage the window mechanism.

For all the foregoing reasons, I have my reservations about this and have decided to live with the grease streak. My passenger window does not get a lot of action anyway

I have this window streak problem since I bought my Z.

I visited Agincourt, Scarborough Eglington Nissan to fix the problem, but none of them could really fix it. I guess they simply underestimated the problem and didn't pay attention to fix it. Maybe, they really don't know what they're doing.
