Default best bang for the buck...

So I acquired a 03' 350Z track model not long ago and love it. It's in great shape has about 15k miles and is bone stock. What I am running into now is that my father in law has an M series roadster and is hungry for some SCCA racing in the spring. From the research I have done (correct me if I am wrong) they are somewhat comparable in performance, and I want a little insurance! So, what are my best options for Mods?? Cost is somewhat of an issue so I would like the best bang for the buck in terms of; suspension, exhaust, intake, chip etc etc. Most importantly I do actually drive this thing so I would like to keep her dependable and on the road. Thanks for any tips.

It sounds like to just start off you would need the following:
Tires
brake pads - recommend Hawk pads

that should do it. you may want to look into if you need a helmet for the track you are going too. im sure you do. after your first track day or so, youll know what you want and need.

There is no "chip" for the Z, only piggyback's which wouldn't do anything for you unless you had other mods to tune

some simple ones: jwt popcharger (intake), an exhaust (maybe HKS [pricey], or other true duals, [borla, invidia] etc.) 5/16th iso thermal plenum spacer + mrev2(or not) (motordyne), hi-flow cats/testpipes (crawford, labree, kinetix, etc), like like other people said (which is more important than these performance mods), tires/brakes, then, if you do mod, get a tune (utec).

if you want the most power for the least money...

1st mod should be very lightweight wheels with good tires
2nd mod would be motordyne 5/16" spacer
3rd mod would be high flow cats or test pipes
4th mod would be tuning via reflash or custom tune on UTEC

this is all my opinion of course

on 1st mod recommendation -- that would cost at least $2K or more . . . not exactly cheap.

but you can feel it more than any other N/A mod.

I wish I had realized this instead of dropping more than $3k on heavy wheels and tires which I somehow can't get rid of because they're too nice looking
