The dealership was Power Nissan in Torrance. I have 3 other cars. A 06 Dodge Charger SRT 8, a 06 Roush Mustang and an 88 Mustang LX...all have superchargers and none burn oil. The Z is the most stock car I have (Nismo Intake and exhaust) and yet this. I have written 3 letters since yesterday. I will keep you posted. I will try another dealership but...I'm kinda thinkin theyre gonna have to stand behind this. They, Nissan or someone. You cant sell a car like this and then hide behind "its normal"

Ok. The service manager called me yesterday. Apparently these engines have a break in period for 10000 miles that causes them to use oil. Then the motor becomes properly seated. The long break in period is due to the "aluminum block and the chrome sleeve". It takes longer to break in. Particularly if you drive in a "spirited" manner. (RPM over 4500). He finally said if after 10000 miles the car is still burning oil. I would be receiving a new motor. I suppose the thing to do would be to have the oil consumption test done at another dealership after 10000.
He also agreed that the service consultant's statement that 4 quarts low or a quart every 1000 miles wasnt normal!!! Imagine that!

I now have over 20,000 and the consumption has dropped from 1 qt./2000 miles when almost new to 1 qt./5500 miles(last test). This does not mean I am satisfied or convinced it is not a temporary thing. My driving habits have changed due to weather and now we're back to the type when I had high consumption. It looks promising, but I'm not jumping to conclusions.
There have been and are rev-ups out there with mind-boggling oil consumption problems. Most rev-ups are NOT experiencing any problem. Now we know some with the problem fluctuate down. I want to know if some fluctuate up. We deserve a good explanation and it needs to come from NNA, not from some dealer whose explanation has some holes in it.

I was told that this is just an old carry-over and is no longer applicable. I was also told by the Nissan tech specialist that you should not burn any oil in the first couple thousand miles of a new engine. This is just an old wives tale.

That's the funniest **** I've heard so far. Since you didn't ask him why the rest of the millions of aluminum blocks on the road don't consume this much oil, consider this... if it were true, don't you think NNA would have been able to use that justification in my case and wouldn't have lost?
He's feeding you a bunch of ****. Call NNA... call the news station... call BBB... call a lawyer.. call someone. And find a different dealer. I wouldn't let a ******* like that change my air filter.

My one month old, brand new '06 Base MT sucked 2 quarts of oil in 3000 miles! Today I spoke to a Lemon Law attorney. I'm getting ready to start the process of getting my money back, or having the car replaced with an '07. Any thoughts or suggestions?
