So I'm in the same boat as everyone else in this thread I think. Just changed my oil today and there was only about 1 qt that came out....I'm going tomorrow to see what they say...Is there anything I should tell them or ask them so that they give me the correct service. I don't want them to screw me somehow..Also how can I tell if my car has a v1 or v2 engine.

If you haven't had your engine changed out already, its a "V1".

Just tell them that the engine is burning oil, estimate about a quart every thousand miles. Tell them you've heard they can do an oil consumption test.

What year is your Z?

My next change is going to be to 0W-40. I want to see if that helps quell it.

So I want to nissan today to get my car checked....and it's the same spiel that everyone is talking about. So they told me that I need to drive the car for 1000 miles and bring it back. The service guy also told me that he called NNA, and he was told that there was a new engine in the works, but they don't have anything yet

My brother has an S2000 and it burns about a quart every 3,000 miles. However, I understand what you mean. I've I known the 06 were having this problems I would have kept my Mazdaspeed Miata. Now I wish to have an 07 Z. But I am $10,000 upside down in it.

My s2000 did too until I installed a product called Krankvents which are really popular in the s2000 community. This completely eliminated my OC problem. That is what this thread was originally made for and then I changed it to a data thread.

I got a call back from a specialist today from NNA. He told me the same thing about the revised motor still being in the works. I told him about how everyone on this thread has been told they already have the "new" motor. He insisted that this could not be true. However, he was unaware of the new part number as well. I gave him the two part numbers and he said he will investigate and call me back tomorrow. I have a feeling the "v2" was released to slow down the buy-back process in hopes of finding a fix. Its seemed to have done just that for members on this forum who insist the v2 is the remedy, yet 4 members with the v2 still report consumption. Dont believe everything that comes out of NNA's mouth. Nothing is in writing!

I have never believed anything from NNA or a Nissan Dealership. However, IF my car is not consuming oil after having this engine replacement than I will be happy. It's too early to tell for mine as well as many of the others on the list.

I'm VERY happy with the difference I've noticed in the past week. The car feels completely different. My fiance rode in it last night for the first time since the replacement and said "it sounds different, sounds better".

I had 5000 miles when I noticed the problem. By the time Nissan replaced the engine I had 15000.
My oil PSI at idle before the replacement was a round 20, now it's at 30

My dad has been checking his oil for the last couple thousand miles and it looks like he is consuming about 1qt every 1000 miles. He just took the Z in for an oil change and to start the consumption test. The mechanics at the dealership said the oil drain plug had a crack in it and thats why he is losing oil. Also, they found oil residue on the plastic cover. We kind of think thats bs to have a little crack and lose that much oil...

Ive started to read this thread, its long.... what are the V1 and V2 part numbers? If it is consuming oil, what are the best ways to go about this? Will they give us a V1 engine (new long block or short block?) or a V2 engine? Or can we try to have the car bought back? I hate this....

Btw, its an 06 MT Z with 10,150 miles.
