alot of the debate in the past has come over use of expensive oils, such as the Motul 300V. The MOtul is a fine oil, but it is not proving to be any better (possibly worse)than other oils that cost a 1/3 of the motul

Agree and that's why this thread of Resolute is so awesome with member supplied data and his interpretations.
It's showing what oils I'll consider or will use and which ones to stay away from. Even certain high cost exotics.

OP, is it possible to continue testing on more oil types? I would like to see Mobil 1 0W-30, the stuff in a green tinted jug for more fuel efficiency. The label claims the oil to exceed the protection of 5W- & 10W-30.
Click below to go to the Mobil 1 web page for "green" motor oil.

all you have to do is use it and send it in for a UOA yourself and post your results. He will then go over the results you have and add the oil to the list he has compiled.

He isnt testing all these oil's WE are.

+1. be the guinea pig!!! It's probably fine oil. put a good 3000 miles on it and send it off for a UOA. then, post up the results.

I've done it for the Motul 300V 5W40 and the Rotella T-Syn 5W40.

I do not test the oils. I do not control which oils are tested.

The oils are tested by independent labs, and the results are posted here. Each forum member shares their own lab results from the oil they used. I have only submitted one UOA, the other 90 plus UOA's are from contributing members.

If you want to see how M1 0W-30 holds up in your engine, use it and do a UOA. Then post it here for everyone else to see, and we'll help you interpret it. After a few more people perform a UOA, maybe we'll see a trend in how it does compared to other oils. That's the point of his thread.

Thanks. When I have some used 0W-30, I will go through with this. I will also report any mileage gains based on using the oils for the rest of the Z community.

Heard of that oil.
By any chance happen to know which post # you posted your UOA on with this oil? I'm interested in seeing the raw numbers.
Thanks.

I just changed the RTS out of my Z. I had 13 months and 6500 miles on the Rotella T-Syn, and I'll be shipping the sample off for analysis this weekend . I'll post the results and a full write-up when it comes back.

I just bought this stuff and will be running it to see how it does. Just not in the VQ35. I am going to run it in my Titan.

Thank you for posting that up. See what you mean about the lead from race fuel.

Interested in those numbers without the high lead from race fuel and your interpretation.
It's this oil correct?

Ok well I read the entire thread and I don't believe this was asked... but the next oil I plan on using is amsoil sso 0W-30, and I'll probably do an extending OCI of around 6k-8k... should I change the oil filter during that time period at all?

I should note that I'm using PP 10W-30 now and I'll send a sample of to blackstone for testing... even though I know there are tons of samples for that oil... I guess one more couldn't hurt to average into the chart.

Any UOA you have to share would be appreciated, thanks!

Use a good filter and it will last for a 8k mile oil change interval. The Donaldson filters that Amsoil labels as their EaO filter will work, but so will Mobil1's filter. Both use synthetic elements and will do fine.

Using a viscosity calculator, I figured it to be 4.6

What do you mean, scale? Are you asking what the minimum and maximum values can be, because there is no scale for the oil's viscosity at 150 degrees as defined by grade. It's entirely possible to have a 30 weight and a 40 weight oil with the same HTHS value. GC 0W-30 and M1 0W-40 would be an example, both with HTHS of 3.6 cSt. I've seen the HTHS anywhere from 2.5 to over 5.

Yes, I was referring to a minimum-maximum HTHS..In your sticky you said that a higher HTHS score is recommended for FI/Built/Drag
