Exclamation BuiltZMotors destroying axles...part II

so about a month ago, I was delighted and impressed with the Driveshaft Shop's Excellent customer service. I had snapped one of the original production level II axles (passenger side) after running it without issues for almost two years. Even though they warranty these for 6months, they sent me a new axle since it was the original production axle that had some issues early on. Apparently, anyone who was going to have an issue with the first production level II axles did right at the beginning, for whatever reason, mine held strong and had its first failure last month.

In the meanwhile, while waiting to receive my new level II axle, I put a stock axle in to keep my car driveable. So, currently running stock axle on passenger side, and built axle on driver side. Today, driving in 2nd gear, gunned it, and I heard the most violent high pitch snap ever! I lost all power, luckily I was a few streets away from my house. I coasted most of the way home, towed it with my friend's truck the rest of the way...

sure enough, I broke the DRIVER SIDE axle!!! So the stock axle held and the built axle broke- granted it is the first production that has an extra ring groove and was apparently a weak spot... but I was amazed that my stock axle didn't break! I totally expected the stock axle to be the one that failed

Luckily, I have my stock driver axle, so I'm throwing that on in a few minutes...
I'm hoping the DRIVESHAFT SHOP will be kind enough to help me out again on the other axle..again, they have excellent customer service, I would buy from them anytime in the future---and the second production axle and newer have been problem free (as far as I know)

so with all of our press lately , at least it is nice to know that our motors are making plently of power to break axles and other drivetrain components!!! (on the 3rd tranny) [working with SPEEDLAB to develop a fix for the tranny issues people are having- beefing up the counter-gears, will keep you all posted]

here's some pics:

trusty friend Jerry helping me out- put your shirt on!!!

Axle breaking doesn't seem common cause there aren't a lot of cars pushing the limits and/or using aftermarket axles. More people are blowing motors than anything else.

Did both axles break in the same spot? How do you know the aftermarket ones are stronger than stock - particularly after this incident?

no, first built axle broke at the inner cv location, at the distal splined shaft... this one broke at the outer, where the shaft translates into the actual splined terminal piece (that transfers the power to the rear rotor)

The second production run and on from the Driveshaft Shop stage II are supposed to hold up really well.... I just had the first production run axle last wayyy longer than most
