Default may have oil consumption at 22k im not sure :(???

Hey guys ive never had this problem before get my oil changed at about 20k mobile 1 as usual. Its now at 22900 and just checked my oil and its down to the bottom line? engine is not hot so i didnt have problems getting a good reading like usual. Should i schedule an apointment asap. 3k and down prob at least 2 quarts is oil consumption more then likely right? Mine is a 06 too btw and i drive her like a grandma usually not getting above 2500 rpms unless im feeling jittery which hasnt happened in a few weeks. Also if and when i make the appointment should i put my stock intake back on and take the test pipes off and put my cats on? thanks for any help. Its still under warranty so not a problem just hate to be without my car for some time let me know if you have any advice or help thanks.

Yea make an appointment its gonna take some time for nissan to replace the motor, they have to do an oil consumption test of their own. I had the same issue car did not run hot either but the exhaust tips were BLACK!! and I could smeel the oil burning with the heat on. It was so bad it would burn my eyes. I had to drive around with the windows down( Dec and frezzing). The intake I would leave I left mine on but the test pipes is iffy depending on dealer takem off just in case. Check them also probally covered in sute for the oil burning.

Would your exhausts emit white smoke if you have this issue?

No blackish blue, white could be head gasket issue but then again there are variables outside air temp if its really cold the exhaust gas would apear white. I see it every day in Boston Nov thru Feb. Frezzing out side and hot exhaust temps hitting the air..

well heres a curveball i checked the oil 3 times earlier with the same result on the low line. Just went out to check it again to make sure and check out my bumper and tips and now it says its full. Humm maybe i dont have the problem. Im gonna make a apointment anyways just to check everything out it hasnt been back to the dealer since i got it. But would you remove your test pipes and intake if you took it back to the dealer?

I would remove the test pipes, I left my intake on when I took my car to the dealer. Also are checking the oil when car is cold or hot. Also the dip stick is a PITA to read the service manager hard a hell of a time trying to read mine.. Make sure the oil you see is not residual oil from the pan, after you are driving. I would start the car for 30 seconds shut it off pull the stick wipe it down and recheck it remember you will have oil on the stick from the dipstick tube but were the oil is heaviest is were you should take the reading from.

I was told burning oil is white and I know to look for the steam of the moisture burning off from cold temps.

I have straigh through piping on my Z (turbo) so I am not sure if it is becaus I am catless or if it is another matter.

The car runs strong so I think everything is okay.

It would be best to check your oil level after letting the car sit overnight.
But if you do want to check it during the day, I believe Nissan recommends that you wait 10-15 min after driving to check oil levels.

Most owners who have oil burning engines have noticed a black accumulation of "soot" at the ends of their muffler tips.

I had my oil changed at 26,130mi and after 2,500 mi I had to put in one quart of oil. Maybe more cuz its hard to tell how full it is with newly added oil. So would that be considered 'oil consumption'? or just wear n tear? I never owned a car where I had to add oil to its engine 12 months after newly purchased. So I have no idea if my 06 is considered an oil consumer. Any ideas?

Would having no cats at all give the same symptoms?
