To get into the mid to lower upper 13's all one really needs to do is get a set of Drag Radials on the rears so you can really get on the gas for a good launch. There have been many who are hitting upper 13's with bone stock setups. I hit 14.1 with my 5AT stock and plan on getting some Nitto 555R DRs on the rears. I now have a number of other mods as well so it will be fun to see what I will hit. The biggest weakness on the Drag Strip is the tires. Even with my 5AT I could not power brake to get the RPMs up for a good launch because the tires would light up easily.

he's got a solid 60 foot time as well, I can do it on a good track surface, but I dont have stock tires.

I think it depends how much he slips the clutch, but it cant be that much with that 60 foot time.

The guy with the 2.04 60' time is in an Auto, so no clutch to slip. Probably powerbraking up to 3000rpm or so

This is what I typically do (with VDC off) to cut wheel spin. Usually feather in from 3000 rpm.

My biggest problem I have running the Z is TERRIBLE wheel hop. I usually pull 60' times in the 2.2 second range, and I have tried many different ways of launching the car. The only way I can get the car out of the hole without getting wheel hop is really slipping out the clutch which works OK, but is terrible for the clutch. Even on the street the car will get real bad wheel hop if launched agressively. Does everyone have this problem? I am running the stock tires and have varied the pressure from 25-35 psi. I'm starting to think there is something wrong with how violent the car is on the launch.

To answer a couple of comments, umm im not pre-loading at ALL, the light changes i just go from the break to the gas! And im actually not spinning at all, i hold my left foot on the break and then lay my right foot on the gas with NO PRESSURE when the light goes i mash it!!! AND WHEEL HOP can be fixed by lowering the tire pressure in your rear tires, that should solve that problem!

ZEX kit on order!!!

Some really impressive times here. 13.7s stock! Tell us your secrets and make the 350 look good. Did you take out the spare & jack? How about the tire pressure (front and back)

Oh yeah, sorry for being behind here...What the heck is feathering?

IMO, dropping the tire pressure that low hurts us with the Z, i feel we might gain a couple of tenths in you 60FT but you going to loos it TOP END, if you feather out off the line you should be fine, P.S. if anyone is using race fuel (100 octane) dont bother our ECU's go crazy and compensate for it, so its just a waste of money, if anything it might hurt you a bit! I'm running better with a 1/4 tank of 94!

Erich
