I would think being in Saskatchewan you would need an oil warmer, not a cooler.

Stillen sells a oil cooler kit but I don't know if it's thermostatically controlled or not.

Hello,

The Stillen Kit is not thermostatically controlled, however it is a good kit to consider. I'm going the Mishimoto cooler and Earls or Jegs thermostat (about + $35) route. I've seen some better units priced up around $100 (Mocal) but couldn't justify the amount knowing that Jegs and Earls are both reputable companys with quality products. For these thermostatic adpaters its simply a switch of the plates to get them on the car. Other nice kits include the Nismo version, but at $700+ it gets pricey.

Here's one for reference...http://www.holley.com/503ERL.asp (note this one is not the proper mounting boss size s/b 20mm I believe).

Jegs...http://www.jegs.com/p/JEGS/JEGS-Ther...32937/10002/-1

Check on Amazon, the Mocal thermostatically controlled plate is about $75. Since the OP is in Canada, I'd highly recommend getting the thermostat type plate. That's why I semi-seriously questioned the need for one in the first place. You don't want to oil getting too cold, it needs to be around 200ºF and in his cold environment that could be a problem with a non-thermo. controlled setup.

I'm currently in the process of putting my own "kit" together. Check out this thread...

https://my350z.com/forum/engine-driv...-pictures.html

It's a great starting point although I'm not using the exact same parts. There's a reference in there to another DIY thread, no pics, but it also has some great background info.

you're a long way from actually needing an oil cooler IMHO unless it's a dedicated track car

I was curious about that too. If you are FI yet don't track your car, just spirited driving, would this still be a worthwhile addition?

Also (Dumb question) but judging by the sandwich plate, the in and out go to the plate, with no need to tap into the pan right? Does the plate restrict flow to or from the filter at all?
