Default How often to turn on the Z?

Right now my Z is actually my fun car and not my daily driver. I have had my Z for 5 going on 6 years now and still love it a lot. I probably drive it about 2 or 3 times a month. Other then that it sits in my car port. Is it ok to have the car not operational for that long? especially at that cold weather? Should i turn the car on every few days for a few mins? or driving it like i do is good enough?

I start mine like once a week. If the car isn't going to move for a month+, I'd put it on jack stands......that's just me.

Ninja edit.......You live in Louisiana......what cold? lol.

Put the car on jackstands so you don't flat spot the tires from lack of movement.

You should change your oil often. When you start the car and is warmed up race it for a while so the fluids circulates.

I think flat spotting is prettymuch in the past now, a simple roll forwards/backwards a bit also solves it though.

Geeze almost sounds like a Honda forum in here!

Doesn't hurt to start your car every week or two just to pump/throw some oil around because it slowly creaps off everything over time (yes even the very thin film creaps away). It will take far more than 2 weeks to creap away but never hurts to keep it fresh.

Oil changes, sounds like you will never hit the mileage limit of your oil change so pay close attention to the time intervals to prevent engine sludge/acid. Just do the typical 3 months or whatever it calls for. I track my car and change my oil often so I'm not familiar with what it calls for.

I store my Z for 6 months out of the year. I leave it on the tires, no flat spots here.

I turn mine on every 2 weeks and drive it around the block a couple of times at about 15 miles an hour. Stretch it's legs a bit.

Yup. It's better to not start the engine during cold temperatures if you're not going to drive for a while.

+1

Also, since most engine damage happens while starting. Why start it and cause that wear if you aren't even gonna drive it?

Mine has sat for a few months during various points of ownership. Never had any issues. I even left the battery connected! Do watch your oil change time intervals though.
