Default Replacing 05 VQ with 07 VQ?

Has anyone done this? I found a really good deal on one, and it would be nice to know if it would be a HUGE hassle to do. I know that the 07 is very different then the 05 so I'm expecting that it just won't work. Both are 6mt, and the new motor comes with its 6mt.

Thanks!
Robert

Huge hassle would be an understatement

best thing is to sell yours and buy an 07 up if that is the engine you want

Hmm... thats too bad. I was just thinking since it was cheap I would pick it up as a backup in case mine goes and I could also build it a little at a time so that it doesn't interrupt my daily driving.

Thanks for the reply!

Is it the wiring and electronics that is the hassle or just physical modification to fit in the engine bay? Thanks for any help

Go to the link below and read all about it. fill in the blank on the link. fitting the engine in your 05 is a minor problem, but making the 07 ecu to work with your 05 electronic is a major pain in the backside. It has been done before, and currently there is guy putting the VQ35HR into his FX35 that had the DE engine.

Thanks guys for the replies, except for quaman. Really man? It's a valid question to an actual problem, I stated that there are drastic differences between the 2 motors so I was expecting it not to work. What's the harm in asking a place that has a pool of knowledge like this one, oh I know! Douchebags like you.

Thanks again everyone.

I completely agree that your question is a valid question. No disagreement there. However, it has been asked time and time again. Like you said this is a pool of knowledge and there is plenty of information on this swap, you just need to search for it.
