Default bolt ons vs weight reduction

Lookin to go the route of carbon fiber hood n trunk or basic bolt ins..intake exhaust..etc..

What would be more beneficial?

Basic rule is that for every 100 lbs you shed, you lose a tenth of a second in the quarter under perfect conditions. Assuming you have a DE motor, they don't respond too well to bolt ons. Full exhaust, your butt dyno might feel a little faster in the higher rpm range. Basic bolt ons though dont do the 350 any justice.

If you cut the car in half, you save almost 2000 pounds. That's your best bet.

Go fast or look fast pick one. I would save all your benjamins and go with FI or engine swap if you want real power. If you want to save money but want a little something than get a revup air box with high flow filter, Do a set of HFC, Y-pipe and exhaust. Spend the rest of the money on Suspension and brakes. When you hit a jackpot pick up a SC / turbo kit or throw the VQ motor in the trash and put something decent to begin with in the engine bay.

Who cares? Are you going to track the car or just drive like an asshat on public roads?

There is a thread somewhere with all the weight of OEM parts. So find out how much you would lose and do the HP to weight ratio math. I'm pretty sure the link has been provided by Dave.

Just to let you know. The 350z hood is made out of aluminum. And very light as is. Getting a Carbon Fiber hood is not going to make a difference at all. You might lose 1 or 2 pounds.

If your really looking to lose weight, look into kevlar products.

CF hood is usually a 1/2 pound loss to even a gain, we are not driving honda's. The seats are heavy as hell, a nice weight loss is putting in some quality race seats.

My VIS CF hood is only one pound lighter than my OEM hood.
OP, stick with stock hood as mentioned.

This is very true.
Look fast or go fast. Aesthetics and bolt ons vs FI.
+10000000 for this comment.
I get a lot of schit from my homies who make fun of me because they've been with me since the day I got my Z.
It's EASY to put a good 7-8 grand with basic bolt ons and aesthetics.
Does it make your car any faster? Barely.
FI all the way.

Do you know what one single mod make the car go faster and handle better than all others? Training the driver.

I couldn't believe how heavy the OEM cats were. For a DE, doing TP is probably one of the best mods. You lose the weight and gain some HP at the same time.

A light catback will get your some weight loss and power gain. Like the JIC titanium single. Very light.
