Default Axle won't snap in after installing Quaife Differential

Hi,

i have a 2003 350Z Touring with the VLSD and bought a Quaife QDF11L (meant for the open differential) and had it installed by a transmission shop. Everything went well until they chopped off 1.7 inches off the RHD stub axle and tried to install it. The groove in the axle for the clip doesn't reach the clip.
Any idea what's going on?

For anyone wondering the same, I found what was going on.

To make it short: I am an idiot that can't read

Long story: you can not make the QDF11L work with the VLSD axles. The cutting part is necessary when you buy the QDF13L that is meant for the VLSD

Kudos for updating your thread with info. Did you end up simply buying the different driveshafts meant for the open diff?

I'm very curious to the answer myself. Did he rig it, or did he do it justice?

Well, you paid for it. Did the tranny shop charge you for two new axles, or do something else? Did you get the Z back yet?

Well if they didn't notify you that they had to modify the axles before doing so and they messed it up, either get them to offer an aftermarket axle free of charge, or straight lawsuit the money from them

Sorry for the late reply. Z is back together and driving. I ended up buying an open diff locally and used those axle stubs

Ok, seems like there is more i should explain. I took just the VLSD diff to the shop (not my entire car) and asked them to install and shim the Quaife and to cut the axle stub 1.7 inches which should make it work. So they did what i asked them to do and didn't work because I gave them wrong information. I am not mad at them as they did exactly what i asked them to do.
