Thumbs down If you bought a 1st gen rogue short shifter...beware!

There have been a couple of threads about the first gen of Rogue Short Shifters coming part in the middle of the shaft....literally!
Mine has been glued three times, and BJ was going to get back with me a long time ago about whatever fix was needed for this. I know they're now selling them without the issue (have no idea what they've done to resolve it), but it seems that 350Evo is not standing by the products that they sell.
This was the email I received when I told BJ that I've had to glue it together three times already.

Kevin,
When you get a chance ship it back to rogue and thye will update it for you for free.Sebring was ok.just glad to be home. It was jsut a PCA weekend and we had 5 customer cars down there.
Cheers
BJZ "

350 Evo is out of the loop once the product reaches your doorstep it seems.
I would've posted this as well in the Vendor Reviews, but I don't see them listed anymore.
Long story short...if you bought a first gen rogue short throw shifter from 350 Evo, be prepared to be without a shifter for at least a week.
This is customer service??"

I'd bet if you called Rogue Engineering and let them know about the problem they'd ship you a new one and let you ship your old one back after you received the new one.

I don't know this for sure, but that's what I'm gonna ask for if my short shifter breaks. I have a 1st gen, but haven't had any problems with mine. I bought mine direct from Rogue Engineering though.

Did you actually try calling BJ?

350Evo has always been receptive and quick to resolve any situation, so try calling him.

As for the Rogue shifter, the new version has a bolt through it.

Wait one minute here. This is nuts. I emailed you and said to simply return the shifter back to Rogue Engineering and that they would update the shifter for free. Did I not.
350EVO is not the manufacture of this product and yes we do stand behind the products that we carry. I have been in contact with Rogue Engineering and there have been threads about this same subject. I believe I even stated that I had spoken with Rogue Engineering and that "anyone who experienced a seperation with the shifter should ship it back to Rogue Engineering directly and they would update free of charge." That came directly from Ben at Rogue.
I believe the when you first contacted me I even told you that RE was willing to do free updates and you replied that you had "fixed it yourself"
What are you expecting done exactly?
Rogue Engineering has done an excellant job with their update and there hasnt been an reported problems with the resloution.
Kevin if you have a problem with 350EVO and would like to discuss something, please send me an email.

"I wrote BJ @ 350evo.com (where I purchased mine from) to tell him about this. I just coated it with epoxy and put it back on and it's been fine since"

this was back on 12 22 03

And my last email to you stated:
"From: Kevin Young

Cc: kjy9@imaginetstudio.com

BJ,
I had to glue my shifter together last week for the third time.
I'm taking it to the track tomorrow (opening day at the drags) and see how it does. I used "liquid weld" this time.
Did they ever come out with a fix for the issue yet?
You were going to email me when they did, but I have yet to hear from you.
BTW, how'd you do at Sebring last weekend?

Thanks
Kevin"

Pushing it back to the manufacturer and to be without a shifter for my car for a week +- is unacceptable customer service as far as I'm concerned BJ.
You're great about getting things shipped out quick, but apparently standing by what you sell is not a plus in your favor.
I'm not pissed, just stating facts...all email has been posted in this thread. If someone sells me something that they find to be faulty (which you have admitted it to be) and then pushes it back to the manufacturer, that is not customer service as far as I'm concerned.
If you believe it is, great, I do not.
Sorry I had to post this here, but I gave you a chance to do the right thing, and you didn't.

i had a first gen shifter and it came apart twice (once at the track).

RE shipped me the 2nd gen shifter w/ a return label to ship back the defective 1st gen.

You're really asking that question??
You are not standing behind a product that you sold. The manufacturer is. Now if I want to continue to run a Rogue shifter in my ride, I have to deal with a third party. I think you're missing the point. It's no big deal BJ...I'll look for another brand of shifter. Thank you for making my point for me

Don't be unhappy BJ. I have never seen one bad review of any of your products. The one instance where there was a problem with B18's shifter, you handled the problem promptly.

The problem isn't with your product, it's with the guy posting this thread.

Not really my business but I think what he expects from BJ is for HIM to send the NEW shifter out first so he does not have a long down time period..He really is not asking much and there is no need to start a flame war..I think BJ can safe face and send out a NEW shifter with return label..Thats not to much to ask is it???And everyone is happy..

That's the way "proper" business is done when you stand by what you sell daking...and I gave BJ the chance to do just that, but he didn't.
Now I've got to look for someone else that makes a different short throw shifter...and hope that who I buy it from will stand by what they sell.
I'll tell ya what...since I started with this car, I had never run into so many people that will lie, cheat and outright steal from you just to make a few $$.
I'm not saying that's what BJ did....just a general statement about online carparts vendors for the Z. They have to be the worst bunch of sellers I've ever run across

Don't get me started there..
"fool me once, shame on you....fool me twice, shame on me!".

Let's just say I had twice shame with him...never again.
I'm in Nashville right now, but when I make it home, look in the vendor reviews about that fiasco complete with more than a handfull of email...ludicrous!

Heh. Mr. Special wants to be treated better than everyone else because he just can't follow instructions. All you have to do is return the shifter back to Rogue Engineering and that they will update the shifter for free. What do you do? You try to fix it yourself not once, not twice but three times, failing miserably each time.

Send it to RE, it's not that hard. You're just making it more difficult for yourself and throwing crap around like you usually do.
