hell nah lol.

anyways, the alignment was done. it was only 110 bucks. and it did not take them long. They did adjust my adjustable arms, and said he travels and road races. i forgot to bring my box of eibach bolts that mic velo told me to order. He told me that my camber or toe or something would be 3.3% off. and that i should just go sell those bolts to someone else, and they suck and would just get me a little better like 3%. he said if i switch to true coilovers, he can get rid of factory spring buckets and make it right. He also went on a big talk about bump steer and the car being "darty" after the alignment. i wish i recorded him i couldnt gather it all. I told him of my plan to switch to wider rear tires like 275/245. and 17s. he said for road rally or road racing he recommends i stick with a squared setup, and go as wide as possible. He also said he aligned it one certain way, because if he aligned it for track right now, it would wear my tires bad. I also was mainly getting that his reasoning for a squared setup was so i could rotate tires. but i mean couldnt i just buy new rears first? or i guess do all 4 tires need even wear probably or it impacts performance too much?

as far as driving the car it was way different. i thought it was even lower at first, but i think it was just because im so used to the chevrolet 2500hd im renting. The power steering fluid was flushed, and power steering felt like it was working funny at first. I think it may have been the "dartiness" he was talking about. It did seem easy to overcorrect small movements on interstate. I need more time with it. it moves lanes one direction super quick, but feels funny if you try to move back quick. However, it slaloms great now, and i could move thru so many cones. I was testing that and heard and felt a clunk in front left of my car. i stopped after that happened, but it didnt seem like anything broke. Overall though its much more responsive and handles better. i tried to push it and couldnt tell it was slightly funky when pushing it. it makes me want to drive it more but still driving rental right now

theres a few other cars i like porsches and all. but i do like modified cars and always liked the z and audi tt from same model yearish lol. they look similar, and that tt can apparently fit me well at my height. That thing would probably be even harder to get parts for, if modifying in 2023.

lol yeah with the cheap price, i shouldve went to that alignment shop months ago, and had two alignments. I hope the tires wont go bad as quick. i spun more going into my steep driveway for some reason, but its like it does get better traction on flat road forsure.

Well, i know ive prob got you all angry since im supposed to do engine first, and tune first, and keep baselining. Or just stop altogether lol. Butttt, im getting that engine tomm. done deal. im happy about it. i hope they have it wrapped up i didnt ask that part. I plan on wrapping it in thick clean clear trashbags and gorrilla tape. i saw some guys building a wooden cradle, with plywood. i have the materials. they said all you need is the oilpan. my screws in my plastic cover are crappy, and idk if im going to turn the z on and put it on ramps for that. or if i could even figure out what the oil pan is. if anybody knows what dimensions to build it lmk. i was thinking a rectangular cube with a base, and walls that go like 4 inches up, missing the top panel but all four sides still.

Hold up... your throttle response was acting weird so you bought a whole new engine for $2K?

lol no loan but youre kind of right. Since the credit cards are maxxed. thankfully they will be back down before trans, because i dont have high credit limits.

and no its not because the throttle dip problem. its mainly because i wanted to jump on it, since all the other usa vqs are high mileage and cruddy. a little bit because of my oil consumption too. It will be my core on deck for soho. I hope its good and they didnt lie to me. it looks real nice except the clutch and something else on other side of bottom was kind of rusty. so are the pulleys. most of its shiny and new looking.

im reading around, and hope i can get the correct bolts for the engine stand. (edit: ordered 12x1.75. hope its not 12.1.5. i got 4 inch bolts and plan to use washers if too long)i guess ill put it on the tire for tonight. i would like to clean the rust and crud off the few problem areas. Im worried ill mess it up cleaning rust off.

he said the headers came off another z, and he doesnt know the brand. i need some but prob wont use them

bahhhhh ive done it now... the guy had some tripled up little crappy ratchet straps. he wrapped them around these two built in pipes on both sides of the motor. i had read to use a chain thru timing chain cover and something else. but i couldnt figure out what those were. i had not bought a rated chain, and decided that i would repeat what worked. so, i used his ratchet straps. thankfully it didnt fall at bed height..... it did fall, strt on the oil pan and that little nub that looks like a ball joint. only a foot or foot and a half off the ground. it landed on that side. I really hope this isnt irrepairable damage, this engine looked nice.

no troll. some of this stuff i could leave out, and i know is funny. like that thing on the engine looking like a balljoint. Yet, i still dont know what it is, and thats the first thing that truly came to mind lol.

i dont think we are going to get much exciting for the 23rd actually. I probably wont have my tune yet, but will be so close. Even if i do, i wont have money for cameras on my car. Im definitely not going all crazy on the 23rd off camera lol. Ill do that if i cant resist it and feel like it. Not some superstitious day near a holiday lol.

just an update. I drove the z again today, and i think i have to go back to the (far away). alignment shop.. it is lower. i hear way more road dirt hitting my car, and really cant get in my driveway. i either scrape, or destroy the clutch and spin. this time i got stuck and had to re attempt. i dont think i scraped, but i heard some popping noises when i finally got on driveway.

The experience on the road is awesome. i love the low feeling. it turns at a way sharper radius, and gets such good traction it takes alot of speed to drifr. So much so, that i cant really test it out. it feels like if ur turning at a locked angle, that after a second it randomly becomes sharper. maybe thats the dartiness, but i dont really like it. Maybe the two go hand in hand though, because i wouldnt be able to turn that sharp if it wasnt darty i bet. It really does feel like the power steering works, but is kind of half *** at first. Like its kind of tough to turn wheel at low speeds but not really. i did have power steering fluid changed.

"Takes a lot of speed to drift? You using the parking to break the rears?

"Locked angle"?

"Turns at a way sharper radius"

"Darty?"

Define so we know what your question or concern is.

When i said it takes more speed to drift, i meant w no ebrake or clutch kick. just from speed. honestly the thing w nice tires is so tight now, it skirted a little bit and did a little slide, but i havent really drifted like that yet. Im scared to, and may need to goto the track. the alignment tech described it as darty, and was talking about bump steer at same time. . The dartiness, is not really my thing. just because, it seems like if you were drifting, it would spin out easily. Only, because it feels like that when turning on the road. like your turning, then it turns too much and you have to correct it. It does feel more sound at speed, so maybe it can drift without spinning out idk.

the whole turns at a sharper radius thing, i did a u-turn and it was awesome lol. Nice and tight and can take it fast. and i was going fast trying to test it out on a right sweeping turn. Then i moved into the left lane at exit of turn. The move into the left lane was so effortless with the steering wheel.

I guess my question is, is this normal? I need to research bump steer more i guess, i dont fully understand it. I dont really like the "dartiness". at brief times its made me swerve, or barely misjudge my spot in space my car will be. Yet, it feels like it goes hand in hand with this sensitive steering and better radius, which i LOVE.

im also wondering if it being a little more difficult to move the steering wheel at slow speeds, is directly related to my power steering flush, or the new suspension and tires.

Edit: after driving the car more, the radius isnt sharper because no easier to turn around in driveway. yet it does feel different angle or sharper or something. like how i was able to slalom way better with it. What i hate is how theres like not much power steering at exit of higher speed turns. like when you try to straighten out or switch directions, its difficult to move the wheel. This causes me to slightly miscalculate where it lands sometimes because its not so easy to whip the wheel around and land in that perfect spot. Sometimes it feels just barely off too. The car is good with everything except fine accuracy. Whats causing this? I so regret doing a power steering flush, at same time as suspension now lol. makes nailing it down hard since both systems were messed with.

dont worry man. the car is strange to me right now, but not being able to drift cuz it can take corners wicked fast, is way better than drifting everywhere u go with crappy tires in the rain. lol there was one time i took off from a red light, and gave all the cars behind me a show. As i fought the z back and forth in the rain until i stabilized it.

Lol i love this car now. It went from having not much fun driving, to lots of fun. I may need to get a second car before i lose my license. I guess its not that hard to drift in second gear. My egos not as high, to just throw it down a mountain at 100% though. I would like to take it to some kind of track. The most dangerous part is getting stuck at bottom of my driveway, because its lower. I now usually reverse up my steep, thin, driveway.

ohh and rpm dip issue seems fixed! I guess my shop was correct about throttle body.
