also update on trans function. The shifter was silent and not doing anything after motor mounts. It had progressively gotten alot worse, and feels like its going to jump out of gear. it moves and vibrates. It always holds gear though! It shifts fine. Its still hard to speed shift to 5th and 3rd sometimes, and 4th gear almost feels like its back and to the left barel too much. Ive missed it before, but its not that bad. Alot of the bad issues were fixed when swapping shifters. I remember the tech said he could hear throwout bearing was bad. I hope it makes it thru december.

The undershroud can be removed and re-installed with no issues. Stop overthinking it (primary theme of this thread).

Your engine is using 2 quarts of oil every 4K miles??? Uhhh, fix the problem first before adding/modifying further (secondary theme of this thread).

You still have no money and you're about to open another credit card for more modifications (sigh).

Yes, the engine is officially using that much oil. Ive got the catch can, that i need installed. I guess the only other thing i can do, is rebuild the engine right? It would suck to rebuild part of it, and it not last long. Would you still throw on 4 in intake and tune? I already bought the intake, and will have to buy filter for old one, if not.

Dont worry, im paying my cards down now. If i get another card, ill get one w no interest for 18-21 months. Ill either use it to buy a car, or engine build. and over the no interest period, ill save money in a savings account that gains interest, to pay it back.

I hate working on cars. I can never figure it out. I watched a youtube video on how to replace/attach fender liners. edit: I had a hard time but figured it out. undershroud going on tomm. I bought a FSM for super cheap on ebay digitally. I hope its legal, it said it was.

NO. I WOULD NOT "MODIFY" YOUR Z ANYMORE WITHOUT "FIXING" IT FIRST. It's pointless to continue to throw on different aftermarket modifications onto an engine that's burning 2 quarts of oil. Bruh. This is what we've been telling you ever since the beginning of this thread. Fix it. Stop spending money on modifying it. Get it to... wait for it... BASELINE.

A special thanks to OP for continuing to stimulate the economy on credit.

If the car is already burning oil due to low compression just slap a turbo on it and have fun until it blows completely. You can just raise the boost to make up for the lost compression

Okay, i think i get it. I thought tune before engine build, but i guess engine build comes first. Since the trans is stored at my shop, i was still planning this trans/exhaust thing. I cant go overboard on labor though, with apparent problems. What really sucks is that other engine was supposed to be really nice. I was going to swap it in. Yet, i dropped it, and my research is saying from bearings jarring around and stuff, i might as well rebuild it? It looks perfect except clutch flywheel area real rusty, and the minor damage from dropping. 60k miles, and found out when i got there it was stored in a barn for about a year.

of course I could get another vehicle, disappear for a few years, and come back building the z up.

I have, and it was all dirty looking lol. --EDIT: post number: 201.--That wrap always looks like that unless its raining, then it looks sick. I had some original photos from seller, before i destroyed the passenger seat and scuffed the whole interior. They should be buried in the semi beggining of the thread. I deleted them off my phone, idc about pics. I honestly love the 350zs body styling, and it makes me want it. Yet, idc what it looks like at all. Most of my economy cars looked like battle ships, because i would go offroad by accident speeding in rain. One time someone beat my car up at work, after i did a top speed late for work run, in traffic. I dont speed in traffic anymore, but thats not why. I did peel off some gaudy fake carbon crap but kept the fake carbon, rear window rain guard.

I cannot stand how it looks when dry. ill wash it and it looks dirty. but the ride height and aftermarket rims make it pop. its even a little lower now than the pics.

Its slighty ghetto mechanically since a kid owned it as one of the three owners, technically two because dad and kid.

I should have never posted photos of the inner fender liner, that wasnt too bad but was. This gap, I dont think was like this when i bought the car, maybe from scraping bumper.

Its really not bad with brights on. I can see a good distance. The regular lights are horrible with that lense. I have the mothers kit to shine it up, but learned it only lasts a year or so, if you dont clear coat it. Purposefully waiting until i can go out in it all the time at night, when cars healthy.

Grab a bottle of Meguiar's PlastX to remove a lot of surface scratches and then wipe on a coat of Meguiar's headlight protectant. Takes about 5 minutes and all you need is a terry cloth or microfiber towel. I've been using the same bottle combination for about 8 years. A little goes a long way.

awesome. With it getting darker early, I was considering doing it soon anyways. I may use the mothers for now, since i have it. I almost did the undershroud, but decided im going to replace both inner fender liners first, for the holes. I wish i could get my front bumper perfect, it has a crack too.

Ill take some pictures on ramps sometime, but i do have some under car damage. Id be so upset if i bent the frame or something stupid. I got stuck at my landlords. I knew i shouldnt drive over this hump, but he kept telling me i could if i did it right. I hope I did the damage, and the tire people didnt jack it up wrong or something. I heard them complain amongst themselves, about my ride height. The black steel thing (chassis?), is fine except a little bent up around where the bolts screw in.

Wow, I'm late to the party on this gem! It took a few weeks of reading during downtime at work to get caught up, but man, I read every post. What a journey. So much to unpack. lol

Heel, Mic, and cobra - y'all have been unbelievably patient and helpful. Kudos for giving solid advice and being stand-up dudes, even if very little of that advice was taken. Trav - hilarious as always.

OP - This whole thread has stunk like troll the entire time, but I'm starting to believe that this is really just you and how you operate. lol You gotta make some better decisions bro... I really hope everything works out for ya though.

Overall this has been an entertaining read. I kept coming back to this thread like a bad reality TV show, and now I'm hooked.

haha, im glad people are actually enjoying it. I know its too long, and full of bs. Even my friend was telling me, i give too much detail when telling stories. It has helped me alot. Im not unhappy with the parts i chose, but i really wish i had a cage and was on the track. I def should have done something cheaper.

Ive got that undershround, and two inner fender liners. I guess ill get it installed asap, but i want my front bumper sag fixed. The bumper is cracked, i may need a new bumper. I may even worry about rebuilding engine before bumper, but i want this fixed properly before driving too many miles.

Ia8cobra, your friend at TBW performance did reply. He replied a week after i sent my email, but somehow i missed his reply and didnt see it for a month. Im ordering that bell housing cover, even though im trying to recover credit fully right now. I just dont want to hit something in the snow with my new trans, in January.

yikes more z drama lol. Ive been driving like this for atleast a few thousand miles, i was wondering what the wheel was when i was doing my oil change.. I feel really stupid for not realizing its out of place, when i have an engine sitting in my house. I showed my shop owner the photo, he said it looks like it goes to the ac, but hes not sure. and to bring it by tomm after work. belt thats been missing, is circled in orange.

edit: it does goto the ac, i found a diagram. I may hold off til Jan 8th or so, when other stuff is done. I hope all of my other belts are there. Maybe i should have him check it out, but its a 45 min drive each way. I also hope no ac belt, hasnt caused engine damage.
