So, what changed between the "dartiness" feel that you didn't like and now?

Or... did you just start driving it to drive it and get a feel for it?

I still hate it. I just love it because its so much more grippy and fun. plus it doesnt feel like its breaking down suspension wise, so i dont mind tearing around in it. No more wheel hop! It definitely feels inaccurate to me still, and i cant nail down why. It has something to do with the dartiness and steering. It also might still behave strange over bumps, although its way better than it was. Honestly, its so sound yet slightly off, that it makes me want to drift around and stuff to see whats wrong with it. I would have trouble with accuracy, like if i tried to perfectly hug the white line on road and not falter.

also as an update i ordered a replacement rim, same size and color. brand new rota grid. They said it would not color match because mine are older and exposed to elements. ohh well. I cant even feel the bent rim really, unless its just causing a handling quirk. Ive been spinning my tires some and dont know when to rotate. I may rotate anyways, when i replace rim.

I do have a random question, if anybodys feeling generous. My z came with no floor mats. The carpet is holding up surprisingly well, but my jordans and work boots will eat thru it soon. z1 sells an oem floor mat hook. My z doesnt have a spot for that though, its just solid carpet down there. Did 2003 not come with a hook? Ill probably get nismo mats because of price vs oem.

Also, somethings still messed up down there. Over most bumps, the front left pops and rattles. The rear has a different popping. I swear both of these noises have been ongoing, and sound like an old broken down car, not new parts. Its nice except every second or two when driving straight, the car will wiggle. and when switching directions youre turning there is a weird wiggle delay, yet it can slalom.

ill post up some pics of the headers i have later, and engine sometime. Maybe you all will be able to tell me if theyre isr or ebay, or what. I canceled my tomei order, but if theyre ready to ship somewhere prob go tomei still.

So, last post if im still talking to myself here, but ill reply at some point, or send shop receipt.

trans service in less than a month. The headers look kind of crappy, i think i can tell by welds. I wont even post pics. We will see what happens, but the neighbors are tripping out on me. Im def keeping the car though. Im apparently getting law enforcement sent to my house by a guy that claims cop relative. Since i refuse to "shut my car down" or instantly "change my exhaust" Apparentally me and my tomei leaving at 6 am is a big problem lol. Also being so low i keep slipping at bottom of driveway is bad when i come back late from gym. I hope the other neighbor w abandoned house doesnt trip about the concrete i added lol. They can just suck it i guess, cuz im not about to spend on a hks super sound master. I could get my second car and this thread will move so slow, itll be dead then. Unless its a 350z w different exhaust. I was going to do headers with transmission lols.

Yeah, ive never even met some of mine until now. We will see if the cops do anything. I used to sometimes sleep early, leave at 1am to workout, come back at 3, then leave for work around 6. I wanted to start back. Ive carried the gym membership, but havent used it enough. Mainly, because z was half broken down too.

lol I'm sure you're a bit louder than mine but my car with the non resonated midpipe and muffler delete is pretty OD. Already had my super tell me that residents in my building were complaining. Apparently they say that I "rev it up" in the lot lol. If I leave early in the morning I just pull out of my spot and toss it in neutral rolling downhill til I hit the street.

As far as the floor mats, not sure if the retaining clip was left out for '03. Doubtful. The Nismo floor mats do have the rubber spikes on the bottom which do a fair job of keeping them in place, but I imagine it would still slide around without the hook.

Hard to diagnose the weird noise over the internet, but it sounds like something is broken or loose - especially if you're just driving straight and then it decides it wants to pull a Crazy Ivan.

If the headers look like trash, they probably are. There's no sense in paying a shop to install them just to have them fail and have to do it all over again. It's not a quick job.

If there are no noise ordinances in your area, then there's nothing law enforcement can do other than threaten spooky language. Your neighbors will likely hate you, though.

I have surprisingly chill neighbors. I rev my Z several times pulling into the driveway to let my 3-year old (and everyone down the street) know that I'm home. Even if they do complain one day, the smile/reaction from my boy is worth it.

i cant help but chime in. So the z handles awesome even though its let out some normal pops, and new loud pops and creaks. It has a few quirks too but feels solid. Anyways, my evo could handle about as good, was higher off the ground, and could navigate bumpy terrain better. I was hitting a turn fast in the z where the pavement was all moundy and uneven. It really disrupted it and made it lose traction. Its like it would be perfect minus a few quirks for autox. but i want the next car i have to navigate torn up old roads like a champ. If you wanted a z like that, what would the suspension setup be like?

lol that looks ridiculous, and like its made for dirt racing. Idk if i would need it quite that high. I was thinking bad roads, but roads that are still roads. Even the z the way it is now, could handle rolling hills better. Im just curious because im digging the rwd experience, but want this for second car. I wouldnt even know where to start with spring rates, and parts.

TX is different but unless there is actual evidence of what they complain about they can pound sand.

lol i was showing my buddy what the z can do, and his leg broke my cupholder which i loved! and sent drink all over the inside of the z and us... I want to fix the cupholder.

I guess i like it the way it is. It could be slightly more accurate. When i said its hard to drift... Well, it just kind of skirts and naturally drifts without much angle at all. and if you throw it out hard enough to drift all cool, it swings out of its radius and would go off the road without room. Thats with speed, you can kind of drift w throttle in second gear only. Its definitely got something else wrong down there, but doesnt affect much. I still want a car that can handle bumps just a little better as my second car, and thats silent. it may be a z. Im also honestly used to fwd which i hate, since i mainly drive economy cars like race cars lol. so, im used to being able to drift, since i can "powerslide" around every predictable turn w fwd
