Changing the Differential / Transmission Oil
I'm about to change my tranny fluid but I need help deciding what product to use. I drive my car year round so what is going to be good at temps from 0F to a 90F summer day?
to get this straight...the first post says to use this:
Transmission API GL-4,Viscosity SAE 75W-85
Differential API GL-5, Viscosity SAE 80W-90
But ppl are using 75w-90 for the tranny and diff? Also, what exact Redline products do I need to purchase? Can someone link me...there are just so many different products.

I called Redline and they recommended blending 2 qts of MTL (70w80) with 2 qts of MT-90 (75w90) for the transmission. They also recommended getting 2 qts of 75w90 for the differential.
Originally, I was gonna get the 75w90NS because I have a Base Z, and didn't need the friction modifier for LSD, but they said that this modifier will help keep the temp in the diff lower, so they recommended getting 75w90 instead of the NS.

thanks a lot!! Is everyone else using these fluids? Do most prefer redline over amsoil or royal purple? thanks for the help

Our LSDs are encased inside a housing INSIDE the diff carrier. The gear oil and the LSD oil does not mix. To change the LSD oil you will have to remove the carrier cover to get to the inner case.

I had to use a shot hammer to break free the drain, and fill plugs for the tranny and the diff.
Tranny took about 3.5qts
Diff took 1.5qts
Result:
Much smoother shifting, and it may be in my head, but clean fluids clear down the drivetrain made the car feel faster, less resistant.

Got my fluids in the mail today. I went with the suggestions made earlier in the thread.
All Redline products. Approx $65 shipped. Not bad.
Differential -
2 qts. 75w90 Synthetic Gear Oil (GL-5)
Transmission -
2 qts. MTL 70w80 (GL-4)
2 qts. MT-90 75w90 (GL-4)
I also went out and purchased a new socket set for the 10mm hex.
A bit of advice for you guys out there. I was able to find a Siphon Pump at Walmart for around $3. Its 6 ft in length and has a pump mid-hose that gets the oil moving and lets gravity do the rest. I tested it out with some water, and it seems like it will work fine. Just need to have a second person around to hold the one end of the hose down in the bottle.
I'll be doing this in a month or so once the oil is due for the next change.

Guys, according to the Manual, only Nissan's "J" differential fluid should be
used, or the warranty goes down the drain. Any comments? The Manual also
states that ANY other fluid will actually cause damage to moving parts. My
beast has an AT, so I have to find out about the auto tranny fluid it requires
(only 14k on my Zed, so it'll be a while before that). Keep us posted!

Differential gear oil — — — API GL-5, Viscosity SAE 80W-90*6
Manual transmission gear oil — — — Genuine NISSAN Manual Transmission Fluid (MTF) HQ Multi 75W-85 or API GL-4, Viscosity
SAE 75W-85 or 75W-90
*6: For hot areas, viscosity SAE 90 is suitable for ambient temperatures above 32°F (0°C).
This is what they have noted regarding the automatic transmission fluid:
Using automatic transmission fluid other than Genuine NISSAN Matic J ATF will cause deterioration in driveability and automatic transmission
durability, and may damage the automatic transmission, which is not covered by the NISSAN new vehicle limited warranty.
