4 for the trans, 2 for the diff. Oh, and make sure that you have a suction gun...it makes a big difference!

Would prefer the redline products, but some people are reporting the MT90 is no good, others say something else. Sounds like the 50/50 mix is working ok.

Now for diff, I still am left up in the air now as well, after seeing some people say the redline diff fluid is no good either.

Anyone running anything they REALLY like alot???
I'm using the Redline 50/50 mix (MT90 and MTL) in my tranny and am pleased.

For the MT should I mix all 4 quarts together prior in one separate container (2QT Redline MTL: 70W-80GL-4 and 2QT Redline MT-90: 75W-90 GL-4) and then put it in to the tranny? I think that the tranny only takes a lilltle bit more than 3 QT and I want to keep the proportions of the two equal. What should I do?

Do one quart each and then combine the two in one of the empty containers.

I don't get what the purpose of mixing anything is? Why not just buy the specific fluid so you won't have to mix anything? Been two weeks since I have changed mines, Motul Differential, OEM Nissan Tranny Fluid, works great so far.

Well, Red Line Fluids are preffered over Motul and showed better results. Red Line fluids have the appropriate coefficient of friction for most manual transmission synchronizers (many gear oils, engine oils, and ATFs are too slippery for proper synchro engagement). And, the wide viscosity of MTL and MT-90 allow proper shifting over the entire temperature range which the transmission will experience. The synthetic base oils used have a very high viscosity index which provides relatively constant viscosity as temperature changes.

I've ordered mine for MT and differential. Can not wait to replace them.

I've read through most of the threads, I there are some bad things said about the Redline MTF. I just went with OEM for tranny fluid anyways.

If you use Motul, the bottles have semi-funnels built-on. I didn't need a suction gun.....

Anyone use Mobil 1 75w 90 synthetic for diff oil? I have an open diff but I'd like to see what people use.

Just did mine last weekend. 50/50 redline mix seems to be working great, I am pleased. The fluid I pulled out of both the trans and lsd seemed fairly clean which was good I guess. Very pleased with the end results -- no issues to report. Now clutch fluid and coolant is next on my list.

What do you guys think of royal purple MAX-GEAR 75W-90 synthetic?? On the back it says meets both GL-4 and GL5 req. And that its non corrosive for gl4. I have 29,000 miles on my car and the trans fluid.....hoping this makes a difference.

ok im an auto noob when it comes to hands on experiance, i understand everything just need some clarification before i go and screw something up. Ok is the tranny and diff housed seperatly or are they in the same casing. car is 2003 bout 33k miles never had tranny fluid replaced so i bought 4q of redline fluid which they reccomended. I understand i drain and then use suction gun to refill, but i dont get where the differential comes into play? Is it just teh same procedure just a different location or same thing wtf. Please helpage thanks

Also i have after market headers, and have noticed the car shifts ok when colder but once it gets warm its gets clunky and notchy not grinding at all, redline fluid has a high heat tolerance and should cope with it better right? Also does the added heat from headers effect clutch, clutch master cyl or the fluid line? After a while the clutch seems to get wierd i dont know how to explain it like a spongy feeling

i'm like you, a car enthusiast, but i would suggest you read up about the various BASIC mechanical components of any car. remember, the 350z is rear wheel drive (RWD). so that would mean the differential gear would be on the rear axle. here, enjoy:

What do you do with the drained oil? Do recycling centers take this stuff?

Can I drain both oils together into one pan and still dispose of it safely?

Transmission and diff fluids can be recycled with motor oil. One of the few fluids that cannot be dumped with motor oil is brake fluid.

did this today changed both the trans and diff... my trans was starting to shift funny so I figured it was time for a change... I have an 04 G35 6MT and it has 48K miles on it so I am sure it was the original fluid...

I used Royal Purple Max Gear 75w-90 in both the trans and the diff...

trans shifts like butter now car is driving like a champ.....
