good thing someone resurrected this thread

i forgot about it, and did end up testing those white leds. It worked in that the lense was still red, but they still are nowhere near as bright as the filament globes

Boma,

Could you please summarize the LED bulbs that you would keep after making all the modifications.

Thanks

-Yes I would definately get the LED's for the license plate. They Light up the ground under the car!

-I would definately get the wedge bulbs for the headlights. They look nice!
One of my wedge bulbs either burnt out already or has become loose. I will look into that soon.

-I wouldn't recommend the red wedge leds I got for my taillight. They don't make any noticable difference.

-I would definately leave the brake lights and turn signals alone. It isn't worth the hassle of splicing the factory wiring to install a resistor so the blinkers blink at normal speed. On the brake lights, I hear people saying that they can't even see their brake lights during the day.

-I changed the led in my trunk light. It's about the same brightness or slightly less. But it runs alot cooler now, and I'm sure if I leave my trunk open by accident it won't drain my battery.

Could you please let us know when and where you get the 8000k HIDs. If I understand correctly, it will emit a blue light. Is this correct? Please take pictures if possible.

Thanks.

yes im not doin it right away they r like 170 bucks... if not more.. so when im ready to take out the reflector then i will do it.

but i will be putting those super white xenon bulbs in the high beam slot

i got a question fo ne 1 that used the resistors. superilluminations say that the get real hot and shouldnt be touching ne plastic of metal... so in that case where and how did u install them? i bought 2 3ohm resistors from superillumination.com

I'll be ordering my LED shortly. I'm going to go with the inverted wedge type though. I don't want them bright as hell. Just want the nicer/cleaner white light.

ok so can you just replace your stock bulbs with LED's? I just want to replace my parking lights, front and rear turn signals to get rid of that amber color you see throught the lens. I just want it to be clear and blink amber to have a cleaner look. so my question is do I just pull out the stock bulbs and replace them with the LED's?

Another possiblity is to use a flat array like the DIY-9 with a square circuit board with 9 LED's http://www.theledlight.com/led-clusters.html

I found a third source for auto LED bulbs at http://autolumination.com/ so I've got an order coming from them with some more bulbs. They make a 15 LED with some diodes set off to the sides to use more of the reflector in the turn signals.
man I havent looked at this thread since I created and damn 4 more pages have been added!! The turn signals that I bought were 15 with i think 5 or 6 of them side radially mounted on the base and definitely take advantage of the reflector.

The only bulbs I have issue with are the WLED ones int he headlight housing and the tiallights. They ended up dying on me, but theyre cheap and easy enought to replace so I did. But im trying to look for a different brand to see if maybe they will last longer.

Here's my take....

- Front amber LED turn signals = Not brighter, but give a more crisp/clean look
over stock.
- Rear clear LED turn signals = Definitely brighter than stock, looks
awesome at night. I was very happy with
these.
- Front clear LED parking light = Looks awesome but doesn't match the
stock HID. Parking light is more blue than
white, while the HID is more white. 6000K
headlights would match perfectly.
- Rear red LED brake/tail lights = I didn't see a difference with these bulbs.
Maybe a tad bit brighter, but save your
dough.

I will post pics later tonight if I don't go out w/ my g/f =)

I didnt get my LED turn signals and brake lights for them being any brighter. I honestly like the fact that they are so crisp. Instant on and off, no fading off. And the brake lights come on instantly witht he read center LED roof mount. If you have someoen brake your car whiel you watch behind, the roof mount LED lights up before the filament stock bulbs in the brake lights. I love the instant and crisp on off response the LEDS give.

You don't thinkt he turn signals are worth it? They're my favorite ones! Well the license plate ones are tied for 1st. I dont mind the faster blinking at all. I think its kinda cool and sets my Z apart from other Z's especially during clubs meets when we are caravaning. Also the filament turn signals, particularly the ones in the rear, light up kinda like this funky yellow color at night, whereas the LED turn signals are a distinct vibrant amber/orange.
