Default Seibon - Hood Pins Question...

http://aerocatch.com/automotive-home.html

I'm in the process of preparing to install my Seibon hood and in the market for some hood pins. I like the look and function of the Aerocath system and was wondering if anyone had experience with this product? Also, which model would work better Plush or Plush Flush?

Thanks

I like the plush flush. I've seen 1 set installed and they look good, but heard the install is alot of cutting into a new good. Good luck and post up some pictures when you get it done.

p.s have you fitted the hood to see if you "need" hood pins? Alot of my customers are fine with their seibon hoods and no hood pins.

Thanks for the quick response... I haven't fitted the hood yet, and although it's probably not essential - I'm going to take the extra precaution... Last thing I want is the hood flying up at +150mph

Just wondering when do you think you will be going 150+ mph??? I had a carbon fiber hood with no hood pins in germany going in excess speeds of 140 and no problem without pins. IMO they are a waste of time/money if your fitment is good without them. Just a piece of advice before you start drilling and you cant go back to the clean look.....

[QUOTE=jonb7007] Just wondering when do you think you will be going 150+ mph???QUOTE]

on the racetrack, I would never exceed the posted local speed limits - all posted vids and discussions in reference to high speed runs on local road ways are complete computer creations, simulations or were done on private closed courses

well. i'm very glad nothing happened to you.. but hood pins are a safety precaution rather than a fashion statement.. plus its not like they're gonna break the bank. you buy a $700+ hood and can't afford a set of $30 sparco pins? (or in this case, $80 aerocatches).. do you really trust some glue and fiberglass to hold your hood down? it might hold down when you first get the hood.. but all it takes is some rough buffeting overtime and that glue can start seperating. then one bump, it lifts, and it comes flying back into your windsheild.. worse is a frontal collision and the damn hood shears off from the supports right at you.

imho. always always run pins on aftermarket hoods.

I strongly agree with Chebosto, though I'm no huge fan of hood pins and trust me it's hard to drill a hole in that beautiful carbon but all my hoods get pins. I've actually seen my hood lift at times at even nominal speeds, thats a lot of pressure on a latch just held by some fiberglass.

I have the Aerocatch painted and awaiting install.

And yes, they make both locking and non-locking ones.

bump, can we have a pic of the hood UP to see where you put the pins? I have the same aerocatch ones awaiting install on my V3 hood

PS don't the instructions say NOT to mount the pins with the ends facing away from the center of the hood??

hopefully I'll have mine installed within the next month or so and will post lots of pics when completed. also I'm painting my hood black, and so you'll get to see what a black painted hood looks like with unpainted, black (aerocatch) pins. and yes, the kind I ordered was the plus flush/locking kind.

I guess you haven't read enough posts about hoods flying open on a highway like Marlyn Monoe's skirt.. I'd never install any CF hoods without them..
