If you have VDC then you have HIDs. Too dim? I would verify the problem before I start buying parts if I were you. Perhaps compare your lights with other 350Zs?

Yes. VDC I assume you have HID. Bulb numbers are listed in your owner’s manual or the factory service manual.

Whats too dim? your lights are dirty maybe? lol. Yes you do have HID with VDC, but try comparing yours to other Zs/g35z first. new bulbs aren't that expensive, and you could replace them. After all, they are over 5 years old now.

If its whitish/blue then yes you have HID. A big indicator is when you first turn them on they warm up, as in they fade on.

I guess i have HID then..hooray lol
I compared mine with my brother's g35 coupe. my lights are WAY too dim. They are even dimmer than non HID lights that have orange lights. When i look into g35 HID, when it's on, i t's really hard to stare at it. But my Z is really easy to stare at the HID when it's on
I don't think i want to buy a new one for what i have right now. I would probably go with little bit brighter HIDs. Anyone know the brightness of 05 Z and what number is brighter than that?

7500 kelvin is blue/purple. OEM HIDs are 4300K, and 5000K with some European makes. In our Nissans it's 4300K. The reason why your light output is so weak is probably because your bulbs have gotten weaker. Are they white-ish with a hint of blue, or are they blue and purple? If they're blue and purple, your bulbs are pretty much dead.

HIDs aren't supposed to go dimmer over time

What? Yes they are. I used to have OEM HIDs on my Maxima and after many years they just went dim and purple. My the OEM HIDs in my friend's Lexus GS did the same thing. Xenon bulbs eventually get weak - usually after 5-6 years of consistent use.
