Plasti-Dip Questions & Projects Thread
I've heard you need to lay the plastidip on really thick in order for it to peel easily, but I don't know for sure. IMO painter's tape would be a surer bet, albeit more expensive.

I would be worried about it pulling up the paint when removing it in any weak areas or especially any areas with rock chips or scratches. Knowing how easily the paint on my roadster peeled, I'd stick to the gentler painters tape or bra option.

^^ word haha.
i cant even get blue tape to stick to itself let alone anything catching wind lol.. i see pics of it all the time on bumpers, but i cant beleive that stuff stays on driving.
Porsche GT3 RS guys use plasti dip spray all the time on track days on rocker edges wheels and front splitters.. thers some write ups on it out there too.. said it gave better rock chip protection that the vinyl they had been using.
money/cool/raceworthy factor:
Porsche>350z
just sayin..

You do this on a long road trip and your front clip will look like mine.........not pretty. Sucks that the paint sucks so bad on Z's. My car is only 7 months old and it's paint looks far worse than my Jeep that has 100k road miles, and a flat rock catching grill.
This is probably the only time I would say plastidip might have a use, but put it on thick!

OP - Of all the applications of Plastidip, that is actually pretty clever. On my last road trip I used painters tape and it worked out pretty well, so I'd probably still go that route though.
