Why didn't I think of that? lol

How long do you guys think plastidip on wheels would stay without painting over it? Hell, there's really no risk painting over the plastidip either is there? peel it all off if it starts looking bad... mine=blown

edit: additional question- how many oz's (or how many cans) did you need to do all 4 wheels?

as long as u want. it does make it harder to peel off but still comes off. i just use a pressure washer to remove it. takes a couple seconds lol. and they are darker black but the car is dirty so they look grayish. and i used half can for each wheel. so 2 cans of plasti dip with 1 can of black gloss over all 4

I did my emblems the other day and I've already received parking lot and red light compliments

Thanks for all the info guys, never would've started spraying this stuff onto my paint without the endless confirmation that its safe and I'm glad I did it!

I'd eventually like to replace the front emblem with a Z badge from courtesy or somewhere but for now here's what I've got:

Oh and I wanted to add my 2 cents about how they look up close in person as opposed to from a distance of 5+ feet.
They definitely look better from a distance. Up close they are textured/not smooth (makes complete sense if you think about what this stuff was actually intended to be used on) BUT it doesn't look bad up close by any means. and that's what I think, lol.

Was curious about plasti-dip so decided to take a few hours out of my day and work on my emblems and stock wheels. Gotta say, it turned our pretty good. I did my wheels without taking them off so I'll eventually redo my wheels the right way but not bad for a test run. Whenever I redo them I'll probably add a few layers of gloss.

Coverage looks great considering you did it without taking the wheels off! I did mine off of the car without any gloss as well and they're holding up quite well. Its been about a month now.

Plastidipped my wheels black for a primer then found a color that i liked. I will prolly change it up again to see what colors i like before i take the plunge and buy a nice set of rims.

my buddy helping finish up in the background.

stuff is holding up pretty good.... been on for about 2 months.

i did the top bar of the car so it kinda blends in with the top. i did my taillights - during the day u can barely see the brake lights, but at night time you cant really tell they are painted (i didnt do my 3rd brake light). i plan on doing the front side markers too.

Has anyone played with the glossifier yet? I'm considering picking some up and using it on my rims. I've heard that once the glossifier is used it smooths out the texture quite a bit, might be easier to clean.
Heres some pics for kicks and giggles:

Thats the glossifier over a matte black wheel.

This guy kinda go over board in my opinion on the stuff. But he's made alot of money because of plasti dip.

About 2 weeks ago. Still going strong after 6 months. Going to redo the roof eventually due to some peeling.

Really debating on PD parts of the interior on my car, how does it feel like the texture of the pieces that are PD?

It will feel pretty rough. I recommend just going with vinyl on your interior. It's not very hard and you won't have to deal with the wear that comes along with plastidip.

I painted my emblems with a satin black, not plasti dip, and I think it looks pretty good. I don't like the silver door handles at all, they clash with my silver/black theme. I really want CF door handles, but I think I might just plasti-dip them to hold me over.

Non-Z content, but I plastidipped the front grille center bar on my S4. It's a temporary solution until I get my all-black RS4 style grille mounted:

Black plastidipped:

The bar has been dipped for ~3 months now and the finish is holding up surprisingly well. This includes plenty of "winter" driving and the slat/rock/brine abuse that goes along with it. I believe I applied 5 coats, waiting ~30 minutes between coats. The finished product can be aesthetically pleasing and durable if you take care to lay down multiple even coats.
