After getting stillen supercharger (heavy) and a stillen exhaust (heavy) I am interested in losing some car weight, so are tehere any performance modifications that reduce weight and increase power?

Specifically engine stuff?


I also have crawford cats and was wondering if they shave any weight.

rip out the spare and whats else is in your truck. i dont think you can really lower the cars weight without doing something drastic, i.e. full interior gut, full carbon fiber peices (trunk, hood, fendersm ect.)

if he rips out the spare, the weight ratio would change alot. All the weight up front and less in the rear. Not good for traction on a rear wheel drive.

Would suggest getting a lighter battery like optima. Get rid of the strut, engine covers, etc.. Carbon fiber hood. That should lighten the front alot.

 

Take the passenger seat out. Carbon fiber hatch will save you 50+ lbs. Lightweight wheels/tires is the biggest weight saver as that is unsprung weight... the worst kind. Best of luck.

I haven't seen many lightening projects with these cars, they are heavy to start with. Most things that will give substantial weight loss will take away comfort and daily driveability. Theres a reason(lots of them, actually) that these cars ride so nice and are so quiet

 

Relocating a lightweight battery to the rear should do it - you should lose enough to offset the added weight and the weight distribution should be near 50/50 again...

As mentioned, lightweight wheels/tires are the best thing that can be done in terms of weight savings w/o screwing up the balance of the car... (it's really hard to shave weight from the front half of the car w/o going CF hood and fenders)

 

isn't the z hood aluminum? other vehicles with aluminum hoods, the carbon version is actually heavier, and for ricers only.

 

those lightweight batteries are a scam! the carbon fiber hood might save 5lbs at most the al is very light.
