Throttle actuator noise after Vortech Install ?
I just had the Vortech kit installed a few days ago......Wohoooo!
Anyway, I just noticed a strange noise this morning. When I turn on the ignition (but don't start the car) I noticed a high-pitched whine that seems to be coming from the "Electric throttle control actuator" (basically, our drive-by-wire throttle I guess). When I turn off the car completely I hear a clunk--click noise from the same place and the noise is gone....... Anyone else had this? And is it Vortech related or is it just another Z issue.
Thanks

My only guess would be that its your Aux. fuel pump coming on . And then that woulds mean they may have it hooked up wrong . The power source I believe comes from the Piggy back [ red wire with a inline fuse ] . And then should only come on after you get to a set rpm [ and or ] pressure .
I would first see if there is a red wire with a inline fuse on it , going from the Piggyback to the pump . If that looks good , then it has to be the settings for the pump to come on . And Im not sure if there is a setting in the R4 program for it to come on as soon as it gets power...dont know on that one.....Bill

If you do find the fuse holder, remove the fuse and start the car and see if the noise goes away. DO NOT drive it with the fuse removed, just start it.
Also, did you open the hood and have someone else start the car to listen for the noise?

I pretty sure the noise is not the aux. fuel pump. The aux. fuel pump is mounted on the lower subframe and the noise is coming from the area of the throttle body. I will pull the fuel pump fuse though, just to rule it out.
teh215: The noise is there constantly when the ignitiion is in the 'on' position. It only goes away when I turn the ignition off.

The noises (both the whine and clunk-click) are definitely coming from the Electric throttle control actuator.
Anyone know if this could be caused by the Vortech Install?
You think the dealer will swap this out, even with the Vortech installed?? I hope so....................

I doubt that it was done by the Vortech kit since mine does not make that noise. That is not to say that the splice into the ECU wiring harness by the installer may not be to blame. I would check that the install was done correctly. I would seriously doubt that the Dealer is going to replace anything under warranty. I would suggest talking with them about this issue.
You could perform all of the ECU/TPS reset steps.
