here's brief story....I was at my buddy's house drinking over the last weekend. He just bought a used 05 Corvette and kept bragging about how fast his car was and how many other car that he smoked...As some of you might know, I just upgrade to Stillen stage4 and so I was "not really happy" when he mentioned that he could beat my car. Out of nowhere (I guess some from the beer) I told him to bring his car to the track and we'll see who's spanking who (I don't believe in street racing) and also bet on dinner & beer ...he took the offer. I think his Vette is stock and he doesn't know much about my car or any G/Z. This will be the first time for both of us at the track....Now do you guys think that I can beat a stock 05 Vette? Any tips from your tracking experience would be appreciated....if I can beat him then I really want to put a bad spanking on his yellow a$$ vette

question is, how much WHP you have?

 

haven't dynoed yet....should be 340~350whp

 

stock C6 vette's do push 340-360 whp and the same for tourqe. they will have the advantage in higer TQ numbers since you have SC. if he's a good driver he should beat you by .2-.3 secs. otherwise it'll be a very close race.

 

I think his is 05...any tips at track like launch method or stuff like that?

 

Yeah I was about to say 2005= C5 Vette. 2006= C6 Vette.

C5s dyno about 305-310whp stock. So you got him with whp, provided he has no mods. Your car is heavier by about 200lbs however so keep that in mind. The race should be close. Be glad he's stock

Oh yeah, you have the AT too, forgot about that, that's gonna hurt you. Is his Vette a 6M? if it is, and he's half-decent at driving... You don't have a snowball's chance in hell. If he's a A4 model you got a way better shot, but it'll be close.

 

is it even a z06? if not you will smoke em.. z06 would would pull on you cuz they're torqie as hell, but not badly.

Nah...his is also AT and it's def not the Z06...I think his is the C5 AT

I don't think that's right. I drove a C6 vette in December of 04.....I'm pretty sure the C6 is an 05 model?

anyways, your hp estimate of 340-350whp seems a lil high to me for the stage 3 stillen man. I'd say you'll have a hard time winning.....

 

I don't think I'm wrong, but if I am, so be it. Cuz if it's a C6, they dyno 350-365whp or so stock. So you'd be REALLY screwed then.

However I'm willing to guess nateg35 might have just heard his buddy wrong and maybe it's a C5 but it's a 2004 model or something.

If it's an A4 C5 you have a chance, if it's anything else... oi.

 

how's that when they're really maybe a .1 difference in the 1/4 mile?

I was going on the WHP being accurate from Nate's original post... So if that's off then, again, puts more likelyhood of the Vette winning.

And if you think A4s run the same as a 6M within a tenth in a Y body dude... you got another thing coming. A4s by default have 2.73 rear gearing, unless you got the "performance axle" option which is a 3.23. Both are longer than the 3.42s on the stock Vette. And then add in slower shifting of the A4 and 4 gears, each being longer than a gear in a 6M... gets distant. If he's running stock 2.73s... It'll be kinda slowish. 3.23s are a good bit quicker.

 

i think he has stage 4 now,and that is about right power wise.
